The usual source of rumours like that one is people who don't have an import and are jealous and spiteful at having to wait so long!

Well a PSP is basically a handhelp PS2 in capability but also a portable DVD quality movie player, mp3 player and picture viewer, not to mention the WiFi multiplayer & world-wide network play! Also future f/w upgrades should provide a web browser & e-mail client.
I can't think of anything I'd rather spend £200 on and if u know a phone that can do these things then I'd like to see it

I wouldn't use it as a phone, and it'd need a new headset with a built in mic or something.
PS
@ themarques can u shed any new light on a 'new feature' I remember u knew about a while ago. Something u saw on a white PSP?

Well I've just spent a while today scanning album covers to attach to my mp3s (and this is related to the PSP btw!)
I've got an app called Tag & Rename which is the best ID Tag editor I've ever seen and have been using that to add 'Art' to each mp3 file. So basically I've been attaching a picture of the album cover (or whatever u want) to each song which then shows up on the PSP!!
This was mentioned by themarques ages ago about iTunes but I'd never tried it.
Anyway u should remember the size of the picture adds on to the total file size & its only a small thumbnail so keep them small.
I've found anything above 70pixels wide doesn't show any larger on the PSP so no point using pics bigger than that.
What I've done:
-Encode mp3
-Scan album cover
-Resize scanned image to a width of 60pixels & leave proportions constrained
-Save image as a JPEG and choose level 6 (medium) quality.
-This should result in a small file of about 12kb but still looks pretty good on the PSP
-Edit the mp3s tag with a suitable program e.g. Tag & Rename and 'Add Art'
-Save Tag
-Put mp3 on PSP & marvel at this wonderful device!

The cap on the processor speed will be there for the uk model as well... its basically in place to allow better battery life.... If a game (GT4 will b the first) wants the extra power they can add code to the game which will increase the clock speed to 333Mhz so no worry about Jap, US or even UK games not having the power there for more intensive games....
Plus it may b upped in a FW update later on this year but i doubt it... |

hi guys!
dont mean to be a twat, but isnt there a slight possibility that the uk umds (when they come out) wont work on the jap ones, because u see uk is region 2 just like japan, but it's region2 PAL and jpan is region 2 NTSC, so isnt there a little bit of doubt over wether they will work?
many sites have said what i have just said but then again some say that they will work
has anyone got any news from sony or something official which proves me wrong?
feel free to reply, because im just taking a guess here....

Good point & a logical one BUT I don't think that will be a problem.
Any equipment that is PAL or NTSC specific e.g. PS2 has it written all over the box, games etc while the PSP has nothing at all like that on the console, box, discs, disc boxes or anything and that goes for Jap & US.
The only thing is a square icon containing a globe & a number (1 or 2) to denote the region.
My Jap PSP box & RRs say Region2 while the US PSP, Spiderman2, Demo disc and TwistedMetal all say Region1.
NONE of these mention PAL or NTSC and if it was dependant then it would have to have one or the other written on

Hey people, I have news!
I'd never thought of this before & maybe some of u haven't either, but I've found you can play a WiFi battle between PSPs with just ONE disc! Any game!
The PSP can play its games without the disc, once each race/battle etc is loaded it doesn't need the disc (except for the music).
Can u see where this is goin!
I've just played Twisted Metal & its fantastic, not even any slow down (with two players at least).
What to do:
-Load game on one PSP & go to AdHoc mode.
-Take disc out & put in another PSP.
-Load game on that one & go to the same screen.
-Create a game using the PSP with the disc.
-Start the created game & let the level load.
-Swap disc and join the game.
-Away you go!!!
Twisted Metal also has other things to do such as CHAT & this can be used with one disc also!
GOD, I love this machine!

Got me a 1Gb Pro Duo and a 200+ dvd collection: Why spend £10-20 on films I've already got. Anyway, got that off me chest.

@MikLSP, nice one. I never did get time to try this out for my kids but I'll give your receipe a go this w/e with them. I'm sure they'll be happy. They also got tony hawks and need for speed english versions a couple of weeks back and are looking for more
as for movies, they're not so much interested in those but more music videos so I've been sorting some of those for them
