i am kinda sad that the design is too iphone like. take away the sony and xperia branding and it's iphone. even the camera placement (if that is even accurate) is iphone.
i guess at a certain point everything kind of culminates toward one type of design, but i kinda hoped sony, with it's great design history, would have come up with something more unique.

Agree, but let's hope you're wrong
BUT I wouldn't mind if it feels like an iPhone 6.

The location of the camera is wrong its supposed to be near CENTRE rather than the corner like the Iphone =.=
and also the secondary speaker is at the wrong place too

@ stedus:
The rear camera placement looks pretty accurate from the leaked shot.
It's fun that people are taking the time to do mock-ups of Yuga to give everyone else a sense of what the phone should look like. To me it signifies a growing interest in the Xperia brand. Of course that doesn't necessarily mean it's the case, but it just seems that way.
As for Odin/Yuga appearing too iPhone-like, well there really aren't too many ways to go if you want glass on the front and back. To me, Odin and Yuga are the iPhone 4/4S done to the next level in terms of design. They're using a far more durable material for the glass which should inspire more confidence people who decide to buy the product. If you really think about it, the whole market about buying a case for the iPhone is not only centered around people wanting to personalize their device, but also because the friggin' things can be f*cked up so easily. Drop and iPhone 4/4S and you can wind up shattering the glass back. Sneeze on the iPhone 5 the wrong way and you wind up scratching the paint off.
It appears that Sony has finally recognized the need for quality accessories with their mobile products going by the plethora of items they released for the Xperia Tablet S. I can only hope they continue the trend and release some nice, stylish accessories for the 2013 lineup.

@vivftp: you might be correct, but I hope the final design should have the camera at the center rather than the corner, with "rounder" edge rather than sharp edge
I don't want to hold a phone that look exactly like the Iphone =.=, Those ifan will just start attacking me... saying things like "Man, that looks exactly like an Iphone but bigger" etc :<
And The second mock up from PaultjeBosvelt is far more accurate than the first , I love the shiny/good looking power button
Edit: I wonder what the White version will actually look like?? O.o
Are they goin' to use White glass at the front like those Iphone??
or its just a Black glass like the White version of TX/X?? O.o

I don't think we have any info on colours yet, but going by previous Sony phones the front will likely be entirely black for the bezel. If I had to take a wild guess though, the sides and back will be what's different for the colours.
As for the comparison to the iPhone, yeah I'm sure more than a few people will make that comparison. If people talk down to you about it, you can at least shove in their faces the fact that this has a superior screen, camera, NFC, expandable storage, more durable design, water/dust proof (Yuga), IR blaster (Odin), a dedicated shutter button, Playstation Mobile certified... and who knows what else Sony will shove in there.
I am also curious to see what else Sony is planning from a software side of things for next year. I just subscribed to Music Unlimited a couple of days ago (it costs only $12.00 for a 1 year membership if you're a Playstation Plus subscriber, or $60.00 if you're not... normally it would be $120.00 for a full year of premium membership), and I have to admit it runs like crap on my X10A. It works great on my Vita and I really can not wait to use it on my next phone! I know Sony wants to further integrate their media services together... should be interesting to see what they come up with. They currently have Crackle which is a free streaming service and Video Unlimited which is a pay per rental movie service... I would love it if they decided to smash them together and make something that can compete with Netflix. I personally think it would be fracking amazing if they had a bundle where you can get Playstation Plus (tons of "free" games!), Music Unlimited and Video Unlimited (or that Netflix competitor if they do it) all for one single price. Considering the fact that Sony purchased Gaikai some months ago, one would hope they're planning to make a HUGE push into streaming services. IMO, 2013 shall be very interesting from a hardware perspective, but possibly even moreso from a software perspective. GO SONY! |

@vivfpt: yeah, i could do that ) i can put those ifans into shame about their "superior iphone" )
@randomc: Well, if they going with a Black front glass, The White version won't be my next choice :<
I will just go with the "mainstream" Black version :<
there is another thing, are they going to use Qi wireless charging standard for the Yuga/Odin?? I know we don't need it that much, but it is a nice add on for the phone right??

I dunno... I can actually picture Odin and Yuga looking quite nice in white.
As for wireless charging, Sony has used it before on their Cybershot cameras so it'll be interesting to see if they use it. Such a technology would be wonderful for those who might want to put their phone into a mount in their car (obviously the accessory would have to support it and be plugged in)... just mount your phone, let it sync to your car and start charging without having to fiddle with any plug-ins and whatnot.
Also on the subject of wireless charging, I wonder how far away we are from THIS type of wireless charging:
http://www.engadget.com/2012/[....]ies-for-wireless-power-patent/
I also wonder if Sony would be first to market with that tech or if someone else will be able to beat them to the punch. |

I picture myself about White Yuga/Odin, it will be REALLY NICE, but when its come to the front....... =.=
Why don't they just make it full color like what HTC, SS and Apple are offering
And i doubt that charging experience from that patent will come true anytime soon
since when Sony starts selling Electric light for normal household?? )

I joined Esato long long time ago, since 2005. So it's not the growing interest, but my love for , Sony & Xperia which drives me to make some time for the mock ups.
I used the actual spy photos of android-schweiz. So if its not accurate, the spy pics are wrong |

Design choice I suppose. I guess some may feel having the black border can help the image stand out more?

Hey ya never know. Sony has already gone into the high tech electrical outlet business so anything's possible:
http://www.pcworld.com/articl[....]_by_user_device_or_source.html
Sony is currently a company in the process of a transformation. They're looking to streamline or cut parts of their current business, and looking to branch into other businesses like the medical field. I don't think we can use the Sony of the past as a guage for what Sony of the future will do.
EDIT.
BTW, so those first leaked pics of Yuga... are those speaker grills on the back or what? If so, wtf's that thing on the side of Yuga that looks like 2 ovals? Charging contacts?

I think those grills on the side are the charging or connecting dock for the Smartdock?? |
