At the moment I am in a position where my next phone could be a Samsung if SE doesn't come up with something good soon. I want a smartphone, but SE only has a few which are either expensive (X1) or out of date (G900, etc.). Samsung can provide and they only seem to be getting better.
However there is one thing that makes me have second thoughts. I have always been an SE owner and have never had another brand, so I always will look out for the next big SE phone (especially seeing I'm in charge of keeping this thread up to date!). I get the feeling the next big SE might come as soon as I settle for a Samsung, and that would piss me off hugely! This is the reason I wait.
But enough of this, let's see what MWC has in store before we go and judge. We haven't seen what SE is going to bring, and they will have something. Who knows? These people saying we should wait might just be right.
Well, then i think you better wait a while.
S60 foundation devices are not here yet, Android is a mess, so likely not this year at all, if so, very late.
That leaves WM, and the X1 succesor is supposed to be here late 09...
So either go for nice A2/300 powered SEMC devices, or jump on the Samsung wagon...
I'm sure that SE knows as well as anybody that there is a gaping hole in their smartphone portfolio, and I'm sure they are going to begin to fill it very soon. And with cheaper options than the X1 too. I don't mind WM and I get the feeling we'll see WM 6.5 soon and I would settle for that. I can wait a while longer.

If a company has a product which is better, then get that one, why are you here?
SE is
quality, definition,Particular manicured, variety of surfaces and materials
DESIGN
this is the reason

Well wake up boy, you can choose to wait for Sony Ericsson or move on with another company. But if you decide to wait, shut up and quit your whining.
Thank you Clauf, it stands to reason. The year for the fanboy, as it were, is over. It gets to the point where you just have to get whats best for you and thats it.
Breccia: sorry, no disrespect intended, I am a designer/engineer myself and I fully understand and respect your reasons, but honestly I think, say, Samsung and HTC have been well on top of those things with their latest models, so its not as big a difference as it used to be. I mainly come here because of my interest in technology and keeping up with the latest. It isnt for me directly because I want to buy something better.
I'm sure that SE knows as well as anybody that there is a gaping hole in their smartphone portfolio, and I'm sure they are going to begin to fill it very soon. Here! Here! That is what I meant when I said I wanted an X1, but not premium. I want everything to work, not to be fancy or overpriced. They do need a respectable smartphone for a reasonable price.
But if it is true that WM6.5 is not going to be released until November or whenever they say, then it is probably better to just stick with one handset for a year and then wait for WM7, which has to be far better, thus skipping WM6.5 altogether. Waiting so long for WM6.5 is not a good idea if the improvements are as minor as they seem to be, IMO.

Well, then i think the only way to go then is WM.
Anything else is not ready imo.

Touchscreen OSE phones will exist, though likely not at MWC. This could be the purpose of the rumored A3.
It's about time, too, since SE is the last company not to make a touchscreen feature phone interface.

Nokia does have a touchscreen S40. It's for the Chinese market, but it still counts.
And of course HTC doesn't--they don't make make feature phones. Don't over-analyze stuff.
And Moto--forgot about them. But, then, the are forgettable.

i dont understand why so many are obsessed with what SE are going to announce at MVC. of course its fun to see new phones but its not the only opportunity to announce new phones. As far as im concerned last years maybe best phone, innov8, wasnt announced until later that year. And to people who are saying its SE:s last chance, do you mean that SE will go under if they dont announce the best phone at MVC or what? |

But the chinese stuff doesn't count. And moto is debatable depending on how you look at their linux platform. But either way I'm happy to hear SE's on the move. LG just seems to be getting better and better.

What touchscreen stuff for China? Sony Ericsson doesn't produce phones for JUST a specific region other than Japan.. I hope you don't mean the fake ones X___X"
Not a rumor, but I want to a bring a point about screen quality. In GSMARENA's latest review of the W902, the TFT 262K screen on the W902 has better quality than the 16M OLED screen found on the Armani. This just proves that OLED and 16M doesn't equate to better screens. This is also the case for Japan, where many of the screens there still use 262K TFTs. |
