Just give me a super thin 13" Vaio laptop running Android. Why hasn't Sony done this?
Who the f*** wants that? Seriously....?
The market barely supports Android tablets and Chromebooks, so how could this possibly be a good idea? A company which is struggling to make any profits, shouldn't waste a shed-load of money making a high-end ultrabook and load it with Android. Throwing money from an already unprofitable division, down the toilet.
Apparently enough people for Lenovo to launch one recently. And please don't tell me Lenovo don't know what they're doing. And who the f*** mentioned "high-end ultrabook" ?

^Honestly, an Android laptop ain't going nowhere. It's a niche product. Lenovo is in a better financial state right now to produce experimental products, Sony ain't.

Actually, I wouldn't mind seeing something like the Asus Transformer series from Sony. I very nearly bought a Transformer in the past.
The Asus Transformer series would do better if they had a touch of Sony style and a stronger brand image about them.
Also, what's so unbelievable in using android as a productive OS? There are plenty of apps out there for productivity and a physical keyboard/mouse/touchpad just adds to the feel. If, similar to what goldenface suggested, a 13" android tab with detachable keyboard came along I'd seriously consider it. But the name... Xperia Tap Tablet Z1 13? bit of a mouthful!
I have a dig bick You read that wrong |

"Snapdragon 805-powered Sony Sirius to come at CES": http://www.gsmarena.com/snapd[....]_to_come_at_ces_-news-7483.php
s805
5.2" inch 2k display
3gb
20.7 mp
3500mah
4.4 kitkat
seems like half rumors, half prediction, but anyway, either that spec or don't announce the Z1 refresh cause it would be too similar to the Z1. less then that base spec would not be appropriate. sony aim for third place in this industry so they better bring the best possible.

When one says "Super thin 13" Vaio", I would imagine that its high end.
Unless of course that Laptop is running Bay-trail and not Haswell ULT...in which case, its a tablet with a keyboard, more than it is a Laptop.
And Lenovo have more than enough money to throw away on products like this. Do you have any information on how it performed in terms of units shipped/sold through?
Either way, this is hugely off-topic. The success or failure of Sony's Vaio division can be discussed in another topic. |

Holy moly, killer specs imho!
Can't wait!
Sounds a bit like a dreamphone for CES, hopefully the dream comes true.

This will not happen until 2nd half of the year Sony have already said that the Z1 will continue to be the company's flagship into 2014. CES 14 will bring the Z1 mini maybe the Xperia E1 and E1 Dual and possibly a few surprises we know nothing about but definitely no new flagship.

Such a flagship is not going to debut at CES, it may come in concept form, but that would be pointless. Sony has already focused on the high end, and now it is time to go to mid and low end with their phones to cover all the bases.
CES is will probably focus on other aspects from sony, not so much mobile I feel. I could be wrong, last year's show was not bad, but I feel Sony could step it up this year to blow people away. |

^ Totally agree with you, like I mentioned it's almost a dead cert we will see the international version of the Z1f, possibly the Xperia E1 some wearable tech and personally I would like something else to go with the QX Smartlenses ie a magnetic xenon flash would be great but highly unlikely.

I also believe there will be no refresh z1 at ces. Probably only xperia E or no xperia at all. Because of the China tease of mini z1.
I don't understand why Sony sold Gracenote. They were making money, although not big amount. Also Gracenote were trying new business.
@ vivftp
Where do you ask zomg about Sony ? I want 2 ask him if Sony will have a vaio s15 successor.

Is this possible to make a PS4 based Windows 8 PC? If it's possible then Sony should go for it. |

What are you smokin'? pass me here!
Windows 8 on a PS4? I think it would be the last place where it would land... but most importantly where I would want it |

Actually it is not impossible at all, unlike the PS3, it uses x86 cores, which are compatible with Windows 8. (PS3 used POWER from IBM and PS2 and 1 used MIPS if i'm not mistaken). Sony and Microsoft decided to use x86 on their consoles to ease development as it is the same architecture as PC, in fact the APU used is pretty much the same APU you found in laptops powered by AMD, only with more GPU units. I definitely would want a computer OS on a PS4 too, not necessarily Windows, even Linux would do. (the only drawbacks Linux currently have over Windows IMHO is gaming, and PS4 already have it covered so in that case i don't care at all) That would make PS4 the cheapest gaming computer on the market. |
