I'll just back-up what Ryan has just said regarding turbo sims and upgrading to 2.1 firmware! Please be careful.

I've just read a few posts elsewhere which have stated that there turbo-sim'd phones are no longer getting any reception after upgrading to 2.2

But, if memory serves me right, there is a particular way you have to upgrade with a turbo sim. Alas no one has yet mentioned how this is done!!

I was wondering what would happen if you upgraded while the turbo sim was in there, whether that might prevent the disable occuring...

Yeah the best thing to do is just wait, at least until other people have upgraded and have got their turbo sims working fine. I'm personally not sure how you go about upgrading when using a turbo sim but i also just read a post elsewhere about using the SIM it came with whilst upgrading..at least that was for fw 2.1...

I'm in no hurry for this fw anyway, wont be updating til quickpwn is updated

Slightly off topic but apparently there's no updated street view on google maps with 1st gen iPod touch

Yeah there's nothing really major for me in there either... i rarely listen to podcasts, or use google maps... but this addition is pretty cute!

Japanese emoji icons (Japanese emoticons) are now supported. The exact number of emoticons is believed to be 461. These can be included in email. Not confirmed about use of these in notes, etc.

i dunno might be quite fun to use them in emails...

So what does TV plus do? Is it an app store app?

btw that theme you uploaded doesnt have the html clock or any icons. But i am assuming that you are applying the icons separately in winterboard anyway. Would just like that html clock tbh

Hmmmmm! Just been reading some posts else where regarding the 2.2 update - and it seems it's safest (regardless of whether you have a "legit" iPhone or not) to wait a tad while.

It seems a lot of people are having some weird things happen to their phones after they've upgraded.

One of the more common, and worrying, problem is that some handsets are being locked up by password protection, which the user never had prior to the upgrade. And no codes seem to unlock the handset - 0000, 9999, last 4 digits of phone number etc etc etc!

Best to wait and hope that Apple sort this problem out before going ahead with any upgrades.

I just wish apple made fw 2.x as stable as 1.x was. Its just buggy now and apparently its not getting better. Apple should release a bug free 2.x with basic features the 1.x should ´ve had from the first place (copy and paste, horizontal keyboard everywhere, improved phone and messages apps, manual background tasks, etc). They just keep releasing stuff thats good for mkt but doesnt really improve the daily use of the device.

I have updated.. on the iphone 3g.. but I use o2... seems very stable...

Had a little play with the google maps.... had a peep in Times Square using the Street view...

Just waiting for google to send there tanks through the Cheshire plains

http://blog.iphone-dev.org/ are suggesting people wait if they have jail broken... or those people waiting for a soft unlock "in the near future" not to upgrade to 2.2

Jailbreak has been 'sort of' release for the iPhone 2g and 3g. Only for Mac users atm using Pwnage Tool. Need to go here and follow the guidelines. Have to already have Pwnage Tool installed.

I'm just gonna test this out myself now, will report back
