I had r1a then flashed to r1j. Now back at r1a. I am comparing videos from both software builds and from 2 handsets and my opinion is video quality is no worse on r1j vs r1a

Quick question, slightly off topic. Have people really been paying £300 for this phone? !!!! Why not just get it on a free upgrade from your provider. There's no way I would pay for a phone when O2 will give me a free one every year.

Joined O2 on contract because my PAYG with Orange was costing a lot. I now get 5 hours of calls, WAP, SMS etc included with free headset included in the contract and the phone was free. Take Numb's point that the phone cost is covered by the contract but when you work out the sums my contract + minutes is good value against a £200+ phone on PAYG.

Got my K750 last Friday 24th June(O2 upgrade), came with R1A installed, was fine all day Saturday, charged overnight Sat - Sun, frozen screensaver in the morning. Froze twice agagin in two hours. Updated to R1L with DaVinci exactly one week ago, not a single crash/freeze yet.

Apart from drop in video/camera output quality R1L has cured my problems

I'm too on Orange UK. Used the SEUS to update my K750i to R1L on 01/07/05 from R1A. The icons on the menu are the Orange icons and L1 and L2 features still work. I've noticed problems with the shortcuts feature in both firmwares. Once you set your joypad shortcuts and restart the phone, they are reset back to default. If you then set them again and restart they stay permanently for some reason.

Personally I don't use the video feature much so the reduced quality is not an issue and I expect the fine photo option will be fixed in later firmware. I'd rather have a more stable, faster phone with less bugs. I'm glad I can update my phone using the SEUS.

I hope the Bluetooth problem between my phone and HBH-662 is fixed in this firmware as that was a big issue for me. The phone would ring on an incoming call but the headset would not always respond.

Cheers Paul

@ shizznah

I have a voda 750. It was originally RC1004, I then flashed to R1J002. Using http://home.tiscali.ch/tutorials/drm_packager_1_21.zip, you can enable mp3 files as ringtones on either version.

Hope this helps

i have that program, though i didn't download it from that site.

i couldn't set the mp3s as ringtones though. i could set them as mediaplayer files to listen to, which was a plus.

how did you flash it to R1J002 using that program?

Im still running the first version of SE k750, and I have the phone since thursday and till so far no problems I thought.....

However I get to hear from people that they get my voicemail while my reception is totally full when I am at home, furthermore I had now 4 calls with different people which got disconnected after 20 seconds, without any reason....

I would think its the redeption of Orange which would be the problem, but these problems I never had with my previous phones (nokia 6100 and 7610)...

what could this be...? I don't want to lose video quality and Im serious thinking about returning it, with pain in my heart

I used to get this with my Philips Savvy and SE K500i on ORANGE - I think it is a problem with ORANGE network capacity (IE the network mast near you is at full capacity or the network is busy). It isnt a problem with the phone that has been reported so far. I doubt the new SWR would help but you could give it a try.

WRG to the network dropping off - I used to get this on Cellnet 7 years ago with a Motorola handset. Cellnet blamed all kinds of things from the battery to the SIM. I claimed them for 3 months contract time when I found out that they knew the problem was down to two transmitters close by were set to the same frequency. When I made a call (or was called) the phone would drop off the network after 30 seconds because the phone would try to swap to a better signal which was on the same frequency and so the cell handover didnt work at a network level. This was a problem many people experienced. since my home and work used the same transmitter my mobile was useless until the quarterly network basestation firmware upgrade.

I have flashed to R1L this PM and cant see much if any loss of video or picture quality.

Thanks for your reply, however I didn't had this problem last week when I was calling for about 5 days with my old nokia 6100... So I would say than that the problem would lie in the combination of the orange network and the k750

Possibly - different phones have better / worse reception characteristics. It is an interesting problem that may well be true - difficult to test. I mention my probs with Cellnet years ago for info...as back then the phones were tested prior to selling in the shops.

Does this happen in various locations?

I do think the missed calls may be a network issue as my Philips Savvy on Orange had thisand had much better reception as it had an external aerial.

Let us know what you find - this may be another issue...

it happened to me at different places at home and one time at a friend at the other site of the city...

Its really strange... and I don't know so good what to do with it... I love the k750, but testing it is difficult and changing to another phone I would really not like...

Ill try to contact orange ASAP... and than let you know about it...

Can anyone confirm this...?

In R1J the skipping-track function with the volume keys while listening to mp3s with mediaplayer was gone. After upgrading to R1L the feature is there again. Anyone else who experienced this?

Just called with orange...(great by the way a help desk available at 22h on sunday).. and they resetted my network settings... I just turned of my phone for 10 minutes and now wait and see... I don't expect any calls anymore today, but tomorrow again... So than more about that...

Orange told that they are not aware yet with problems with the k750 and their network, however they thought it was quitte strange that I didn't had the problems with my 6100... I have to see how it goes the next days.. and otherwise it will go to the orange technical department...

I still can change my phone for a week... and I will till that time keep on running the first version of the firmware...I keep you guys updated...

Havent experienced anything like that myself, and also have had no confirmation of this being related to firmware.

Ill do some searches and see if anything comes up
