Hi JoJo,
The problem is firstly my meds currently mean i can't even drive and trying to see to adjust anything just isn't possible. Plus animals tend to move just when you don't want them to. But i know must try harder but its too cold to try to adjust settings just for now point and shoot will have to do and remember this next firmware improves certain aspects of the camera's functions.

As per - vga's request (page 2/volume 1/series of 2006)

_______________________________________

Besides mentioning the comparison test, I would like to describe what I had chosen to set up for an 'informal still life' comparison test which was registered by my NOKIA 6265, at VGA (640x480) and 1600x1200. A few months ago I published a report in Rio de Janeiro's big daily newspaper "O GLOBO". You may see the scanned image in this link: http://www.jornalorebate.com/armando/03.htm I spread out the newspaper on our dining table and I put a DVD-RAM mini disk (2.8GB) on top of the newspaper. I also put a 4x6" colour print of a tiny Rollei 35 camera which I had bought in the early 1980s. Well, you can see 4 (four) cameras in the photos which were taken by my phone camera. On the top of the newspaper article, you may see me holding a Leica M3, this photo was taken in Rio in 1955. Beside it you can see me using a Mamiya 6x7 reflex, this photo was taken in a studio in Rio in 1975. I photographed the Rollei 35 with a Contax camera, equipped with a Zeiss macro lens in 1984 in Săo Paulo when I worked for the Kyocera company. The Panasonic DVD-RAM camcorder is also shown, this camera took the VGA photos of the cat and the close-up of the flower which were published in the newspaper "O GLOBO". An old waitress holding an A3 size laser print (enlarged from a 1600x1200 image) the photo was photographed by my NOKIA 6265 at the VGA size. On the right hand corner of the image, you may see my hands, (reflected from a small round mirror) holding my phone camera as I clicked the photos. These two images are 'real-time' instant digital images. Photo : A112 was taken at VGA, it produced an image in the JPG format, 'weighing' 187KB. Photo: A114 was taken at 1600x1200 in the same JPG format, it weighed 543KB. You may also examine some of my photos which were uploaded in the Phone Photos Gallery....my signature: VGA. http://www.esato.com/phonephotos/ Two of my photos were rated at the 23rd. and 100th. positions during the first week.

Jojo,

Thanks again! You have helped me post two new digital photos in this forum. Strangely enough, the VGA (640x480) photo seems to be sharper than the one which was set at 1600x1200.

Perhaps I got too close to the subject matter and it was slightly out-of-focus! My photos which obtained the 23rd. and 100th positions were 'downgraded'! Instead of having a higher score (points), both of them were 'lowered'! A few days ago the score was much better, today both of them are not included in the top 200 !

I will now try to post a sharp (high resolution) image which was obtained in the VGA size (640x480), it was taken by my camcorder's Aspherical optical zoom 10x lens, set at the wide angle/macro mode.

I hope that members of the forum are now aware that GOOD quality photos may be obtained by using VGA!....which is merely 1/3 (one-third) of 1 MP.

Jojo, thanks a lot

P.S. I will try to post the photo again soon, I wasn't lucky! I will upload it in the Phone Photos section tomorrow....a real close 'self-portrait' of my 'ASPH' lens! [A.R.]

@Sir-vga : You are welcome I know that everything will totally depend how the pic was TAKEN . . . but then again, the megapixel-factor still will always be a - factor.

I manage to (and some of our co-members here as well) take nice pics when I still had my K700 back then (VGA camera) . . . I will try to post the LINK with my next post so you can see . . . [addsig]

wap123,

A suggestion....don't 'resize' your image, the result would be much better, if it were presented in the original size. As a veteran professional photographer who joined Esato in November 2006 I would like to offer a helping hand in the same manner that Jojo has been helping me during the past weeks. Another suggestion, don't use the digital zoom feature, the images suffer a lot of degradation. - Armando Rozário - VGA

Jojo,

Don't worry, you did a great job! I'll send you another photo tomorrow.

I have to look for my old Santa Claus which I had photographed 50 years ago!

Best regards

Jojo,

I'll try to post two comparative shots which were taken by my Nokia6265 at VGA (640x480). One photo was taken with flash, the other one without.

The results are almost the same, is there any difference?
