When you write with accent, the phone is using UTF-8 codepage, that's why all the symbols take 2 bytes, nor the 1 byte (when using only english-language symbols).
It's the same on every cell phone. |

Am I the only one who feels that the M600i is still lacking in software even though it's been a nearly month since its release?

It has "only" been a month since release. It is the first phone to feature UIQ3 (where there are some S60v3 phones are longer available) and the developers have to adopt to it..... But yes, there could be more software;) |

I was reading local mobile nows earlier today and found info that M600 will be available in my country in August at very reasonable price.
I was in love with this phone from the moment it was announced and still am.
But it was a long time to wait so i found something else and that was the one and only PSP! I have no regrets buying it, it helped me to wait for the M600.
It happens that i have always liked the P series very much exept it`s size. So M600 is like ideal.
I think that sony gave it a shoot with M600 and uiq 3.0 beacuse it is (will be) the cheapest in series. (M600/P990/W950).. I think i will have my M600 in late september or october when everything (bugs,..) will be sorted out.
I hope you guys all enjoy your M600`s cause it surely is one of the best/sexiest/coolest phones out there.
Just one question.. Does Chess game come pre-installed on M600 like before on P series and if so how does it look?

I think when people talk about bugs with the M600i, you have to understand this is more than a phone, I mean it has an operating system for starters, its a mini computer really and just like computers they are complex and have lots of features, so when you think something has gone wrong, likely it has not just need to get the settings correct.
Example -
Could not understand when I was trying to load muisc on my m600i, the disc2phone programme was saying I did not have it connected, but the PC suite I had connected through the same USB connection for my phone said I was connected.... confused I was, but then I found a setting in the phone on the USB part for file transfer, set that and all was well.
See what I mean, what looks like a bug is not always a bug.
By the way, no chess but a very cool 3D golf game and yes agree with the other person, we do need some more games and stuff for it. V sexy phone, miles miles better than any Blackberry.... em and when are they are going 3G?? see what I mean.

Any new software to save sms to the computer yet for M600i? Like FMA or Mobile Master to the other SE phones?

@kortez_rus, thanks for the explication. But why the sms is splitting after 80 caracters instead of the usual 150? Did you test the synchronisation of tasks? Still got the same problem... |

I thought that they had given ample time for developers to come up with applications for UIQ3.0. I hope the launch of the P990 and it's subsequent popularity will encourage more development.
@rockhound,
found this,

In the description it says "SMS/MMS from mobile to desktop", so i'm thinking it should do the trick, but haven't really used the application myself. |

Each sms con be of 160 bytes long. When you write non-english-language letter, then every (!) symbol takes 2 bytes instead of 1 byte when your message consists of only english-language symbols.
Plus service info, that's why in your case you can only send 74-symbols long messages. And then it splits. |

Can anyone tell me when the M600I will be available on Orange UK? I am getting pretty temted by this one, I am also thinking about the K800I but I already have a Canon Ixus digital camera that will always be better then a phone and I'm not really into blogging. But I like the gadgety appeal of the M600I and it's small for what it is yet it seems to be taking for ever to come onto Orange. |

I have a problem and I don't know if it's a bug as I'm running the last version. I simply cannot set the usb connection to "File transfer", as it's always in "phone mode" and I cannot change that. Any suggestions?
Thanks! |

@magnificus
disconnect your M600 from the PC (ie the USB wire) then you'll be able to change mode

I wouldn't rely on Orange. My experience is that if they do offer a phone that I want it is always so far behind the other operators that something better has already come along.
I couldn't wait for them, and ordered a sim free M600i from Expansys, which should arrive today.
