I sent mine back to mobileshop.com on Sat 'cos it kept crashing. Mine was wk20. On Sat they said mine was the 1st to be returned. I called today to see how they were getting on with sending me a replacement and been assured it will be sent on Thu - when their new stock arrives. Apparently it is a national problem - shedloads are being returned!

BTW - have read on another forum that SE are now aware of the problems will post firmware next week.......

okay well first of all, i dont think you can request a WK20 one because i dont think it says it on the box or anything. Also, how do you find out this information? So that I can check mine when I get it on thursday

Look at the barcode label in the battery compartment. Has all the info there

Edit:- Have just emailed to see what is going on with regards to the problem. Will post the reply here as soon as I get one.

I sent an email to SE today, and they were damn quick on the reply. I complained about the standby crash, natch, along with not being able to configure Picture MMS for Cingular in the US (ANYONE??!?!, worked just fine with my K700i, but same settings seem to fail at about 90-95% of sending)

--
Here was the reply:

Thank you for contacting Sony Ericsson Online Support.

This issue will be addressed in the upcoming software release which will be available for download from Update Service week 24.
If you do not have access to Update Service then please contact us at 1-866-766-9374.
The Cingular Configuration tool is currently under construction and is unable to be used. Week 25 is roughly June 15th 2005.

--

I'm guessing week 24 is this week, considering week 25 is next... or something like that. At any rate, they know of it, and it's coming.

Just out of curiousity, do you folks out there w/ the standby crash have bluetooth enabled? I've had mine disabled since I discovered my HBH-300 was pretty much useless with it (muted volume problem), and I've gone longer than a day now crash-free (not a record, but definitely a pleasant surprise). I'll post back if I hit the standby crash again, but I'm wondering if these bugs are related to the bluetooth implementation..?

At any rate, I figure SE's already got a bead on it though, if they're replies tell us to look for the new firmware to be released in week 24 (which is next week, if I'm not mistaken).

@schmeeve. Your reply was certainly a lot more helpful than what I got.

My Email to UK

Subject: Phones
Product: K750i

Opinion: I've been using the phone for 5 days without no problems but one one occasion. The
phone completly froze up and the only way to get it to work again was to remove the battery and
restart the phone. I have also been in contact with 20 other K750 users who have experienced
this problem. A forum for Sony Ericsson phones also has a section for this problem can be found
here http://www.esato.com/board/viewtopic.php?topic=92915

There are other sites I could also mention where members are experiencing this freezing problem
and I am also aware that most networks have apparently stopped supplying the K750 due to so many
being returned due to the freezing problem.

Will there be an online/service centre firmware fix available soon that will solve this problem ?

The phone is very good apart from this intermediate fault and would like to continue to use it
without any continued problems.

Unbranded as well.
I've turned the standby clock off and so far there has been no freezing or rebooting. Wonder if the clock could be the problem to the freezing whilst in standby

Well, On average I can get seeral hous/days if I keep the power connected and play the radio or MP3 in minimized mode. If i don't I might get 5 minutes out of the k750 before it crashes.

Mine is 05W19.

Its wait for the firmware.

Yep, having the same 'crashing' problems while in standby. Will try turning off the standby clock to see if that makes a difference. Emailed SE about it aswell and got the following reply:

Thank you for contacting the Sony Ericsson Call Centre.

With regards to your enquiry, unfortunately, you appear to have a faulty
handset. You have fourteen days to return your handset to the point of purchase
who should replace it. Alternatively, send your handset to our main Sony
Ericsson service location (address below) for repair. We apologise for any
inconvenience.

Sony Ericsson Service Location:

ACR Logistics,
Unit 2a,
Appletree Road,
Chipping Warden,
Banbury,
OX17 1LL

So it looks like they have acknowledged that there is a problem, which is a start at least. Now we just need a solution from them...
