thfcpoole is not the only one with the contacts bug - i reported the same thing in the first k700 thread a few days ago...one number from random contacts just disapears.

this ocurred almost immediately and i got the phone replaced by o2, my second one does exactly the same, i also get the delay when answering a call - hadn't noticed it relating to contacts with pictures but will check

Still, it does not seem to be a common bug. Can it have something to do with certain sim cards or perhaps content of them ? Have you tried with another sim card (perhaps borrow from a friend) ?

A long shot perhaps. But you never know.

the phone i wrote all of those comments about was my girlfreinds and she got her off o2 online. I got mine off o2-uk from a shop and its way worse. The disappearing contacts isnt present but all the rest is. In addition to her problems there is-

1. a much slower menu speed than hers
2. a dodgy o2 logo
3. links to sony ericsson via a globe symbol in all the folders
4. a much dimmer screen
5. white is yellower
6. only one game
7. half my keypad is much dimmer than hers and blue and half is bright and purple?
8. the photo light on hers is a natural beige where as mine is bright blue and shows up really horrible blemishes on your face

So i think the o2 online ones are much better apart fromthe contacts thing. the dim keypad is really annoying me
and that logo

i got mine off 02 online, half my keypad is a pinky/purple colour too... but i thought it was supposed to be that way? looks nice

anyway...... my problem is that:

The manual states that pressing the back arrow key and holding it takes the phone into standby mode, but it doesnt work for me, quite confused at why.

just read this on, the not so reliable mobile magazine, mobil.se when they critized a couple of the bugs in K700 (found and mentioned in this thread also):

- Det kan vara små fel på nya avancerade mobiler, fel som vi åtgärdar efter hand via uppgraderingar man kan ladda ned från internet till sin telefon, säger Per Alksten, informationsansvarig på Sony Ericsson.

what Per Alksten says is in short that they (SE) will fix the bugs in sowftware updates wich you ca download from internet to your phone! wonder if that means that we will be able to update our K700 ourselves!?
or if mobil.se is just wrong as usual...

I sent an e-mail to Sony Ericsson about this and asked them if you could upgrade your phone of your own.

The answer I got was the following:
"Vi har inte fått någon information som säger att man kommer att kunna
uppdatera mjukvaran på Sony Ericsson K700, så i dagsläget så kommer
mjukvaru-uppdateringar att kunna göras via ett Servicecenter. Men det är
möjligt att det kommer att komma en sådan tjänst så man kan uppdatera
telefonen via internet."

A simple translation will be...

" We dont have any information that says that you would be able to upgrade the software in your SE K700i via the Internet. Meanwhile, the software updates are being made at the regular servicepoints. But it is possible that the service will be avaliably some time in the future."

----
Sorry for my bad translation, and my bad english.

@thfcpoole: my T610 also has a two colored keyboard and I like it a lot.

T610 was the first "specimen" which shows that firmware updates are EXTREMELY important:

- The last official firmware version in Portugal is R4x
- The first firmware version in Portugal was R1A

The differences between them were just... GIGANTIC!!! Yes, bigger than Titanic!

Between both:

- Java speed/compatibility increased by (at least) 2-3x;
- Fewer steps to send a message;
- High quantity of bugs corrected;
- Screen A LOT faster;
- Camera A LOT faster;
- Pictures 30-40% smaller and with better quality;
- .AMR playing in freespeaker;
- Menus navigation about 3x faster;
- New icons;
- Memory management problem solved;
- Bluetooth problems solved;
- ...

As you can see, lots of things were done - let´s hope K700i also see that improvements

Hi

* Sync and file transfer *

File transfer via the usb cable seem slower than transferring via IR. Haven’t got any idea why it’s slower, but it’s really annoying. I’ve got the standard sync (xtndt connect) for T610 installed on the pc and are wandering if that could be the reason for the slow transferring. In addition I’ve got about 33 Mb free on the phone, but I get an error message during sync that says that the calendar is full. The phone sync seem slow while my first sync with the xtndt program was much faster.

* Others *

- Still no possibility to choose SMS alert
- Adjust display, contrast/colour – why no option ?
- Error in file manager – for some reason I can’t have one folder with lots of pictures – it seem like you only can have about 10 files pr folder

There are more – but I can’t remember any more at the moment – anyhow, LOVE THE PHONE !!!

hello, im having a bit of a prob with my battery too. ive not used it much but i charged it for the 8hrs, even tho the book said 4. even after 8 it was still saying charging, which i gather is more a bbug with the display rather than a battery prob. but when the phone arrived, the battery was mid way according to the display.

should i have run it down first? im used to my batteries always being pretty much dead when i get a new phone, so i didnt realy think.

have i knackered my battery?
