at the risk of getting flamed here (no wait i will get flamed), do we actually need a news mod? most of the news being posted, to me, looks likes headlines from slashdot, thereg, zdnet and manufacturer press releases - could esato just noty have its news generated from rss feeds?
this would also give esato users a chance to tailor the news they get from esato
apologies to axxxr if u feel this is taking away from your achievement - by all means gd job mate u obviously deserve it and everyone else wants you to do it; i just question having a news editor when the news being posted could be generated automatically and offer more customisation opportunities for the user
just my two cents |

True but it helps filter all the news from those sources into what we all like, phones and gadgets, it helps gather the information/news into one website so it is easier to read.
And the articles are better than the looooonnnggg boring ones that i usually see. Keep up the good work Axxxr.

I can understand what djoptimum is saying but like u said lynx69 there is a lot irrelevant stuff that comes through rss feeds which we don't need.

Therfor it is best to have a person that add the news manually so we dont get uneccesarry information that dont fit in to esato.

i guess i was mitigating this point by allowing esato members to tailor there news feeds - i.e each esato member would get there own esato news as they would have tailored there feeds and subjects; that was my thinking
im not trying to take axxxr's job away as soon as i got it - i think its more of something for the future or to run in conjuntion with axx'rs role; after all there will need to be a mod to add/remove/edit rss feeds and monitor member's preferences etc
how we achieve it aside, i think its good that esato has a news section and the impact of axxxr is evidenced already given the spike in news articles so all good |

@axxxr - 'Filtering' of the news is a bit necessary I guess too . . . sometimes. I just do hope that 'current events' (but not focusing much on US Pres. Bush's - stupidity -please!) will be added in your list of ideas as well. |

Congratulations axxr!! Been away for the week and missed all the action!
This is exactly what i meant in the other thread about the need for an organised news section! And you certainly have been doing a great job. Feel free to ask if you need any help! |
