ok first off all i need to say that i didn't read all of it, but most part i did.

i have to agree with filbert and most good old members
in the beginning when i joyed, ah yes the times of the T68m everybody was very nice, every thing was superb. every body was happy they had the latest and best high tech phone, and we would love to help everybody who had a question, an opinion or a problem.
but the last months things are so strange, people see a new phone comming out and bang, they want it, no matter what brand, then after some time when a better phone is introduced they want that one and forget the old one, or they buy it and then say hey this phone isn't as good as SE.
also alot of threads are being posted again and again, for example when something new is introduced or new info gets out. the use the search thing is very good, but it doesn't always work.
and some members are here posting non stop, junk or no junk, good post or bad posts, some have a big attitude and flam everybody wile othere start a new thread with bullshit and then leave this place.
why can't we all have the same peace as there was when the T68m was out? the update to T68i had some trouble in the beginning, people saying it was impossible to upgrade but they where wrong when SE told us it was possible. then nokia showed there 7210, everybody was like omg i've got a crappy T68i. well that crappy T68i was and still is alot better then the 7210 an alot of other phones on the market.
this forum is mainly SE but its ok to post somethings about other brands, but don't go killing or flaming phones for no reason, if there are reasons its ok, but not everybody feels like this.
i visit esato about 5 times everyday, but i don't post alot in the general forum, cause its not so nice and good anymore.
don't get me wrong i love it when new members join, thats always good, but some of them have to remember that there are some good old members here that have been telecom freaks for ages, yes new members can be telecom freaks for ages 2. but i think the good old ones should get more respect.

thats just abit of what i can say
With Ericsson and Nokia gone: we must keep their spirits alive and buy JOLLA or YOTA

i also have to say that i didn 't read everything
but my opinion on that is, that this is just normal - the more user's a site gets the more crap/usless threads are posted, because mods can't controlle it really - i don't think that more mods would help, cause people don't really care if the topic has been already discussed 500 times or if it's just nonesense

but still, esato is a great forum, with great user's

This is an extremely interesting thread, one which raises a number of important points. I must admit that I do tend to side with the viewpoint that newbies do post a lot of nonsense (not the good kind) and do have a tendency to post questions that have already been answered numerous times, which they could find if they simply searched.
There is also the problem of the 'serial poster', members who post just for the sake of posting something and who don't really have anything worthwhile to contribute to a discussion. Of course we all do this from time to time, but I think it would improve Esato if people didn't post things that have absolutely no bearing on anything.
Could we also have the definition of a 'newbie' please? Is it based upon the number of posts someone has made or is it the length of time they have been a member of Esato; or is it a combination of the two? This obviously leads to the question of what constitutes an 'oldie' or 'veteran'. Perhaps it would be a good idea to award certain members, who are well respected and/or who demonstrate a good understanding of certain subjects, with special awards; visible on their posts so that newbies could direct their questions more accurately.

thats the first time i seen a double post by 2 different ppl

On-topic I just think there is more phones out nowadays, more ppl getting the internet, more ppl needing help with there phones which leads to more ppl on esato.
It dont matter what you search for on google cus you'll always end up with esato in the result, say bye bye to the old days,is like a BIG party now,we need more doormen tho

Ps,i never read all this thread either

You make a very strong case.

Couldn't we have an extra forum just for ppl with 200+ posts? Or 500+ or something? That way there'd be a calm place amongst the mayhem!

first, I'd like to ask what mayhem? I think Esato is generally a calm place these days and I step in as soon as I see any flaming or other unwanted activity going on, which actually doesn't happen very often these days.

secondly, its been said quite a few times lately, the number of posts is no guarantee of quality so I can't see such a forum being anything different to the rest of Esato. We really should get over this number of posts thing and I would be quite happy if it dissapeared altogether.

the biggest problem I see really is the repeated questions such as canoperator logos be removed? how to remove branding? etc etc etc but if people won't read the FAQ, help or answers to common questions post there isn't much we can do except be friendly and help them rather than have a go at them
