Nokia had a similar recall many years ago, so I don't think they should be too happy about this news and start to gloat.
I can't remember if those chargers were "blowing up" back then, so I'm certain that any mention of this will be typical media hype - or should I say "sexing up"?
Watchdog in the UK will no doubt have a feature on this and will use every single bit of sensationalism known to man to turn a non-story into the crisis of the year (well episode anyway);
They will have;
- Story of charger blowing up, which could have taken an arm off..
- News that Al Queda are possibly involved. George W Bush might now consider invading Sweden and Thailand for supplying weapons of minor destruction to terrorists.
- Some kid with his/her pre-pay phone that burned his/her finger when touching the charger (actually, it was just warm), has now been scarred for life, cannot get a partner and has failed their GCSEs. When interviewed, the fact that he/she is a fugly, dumb kid that can't even string a sentence together, with no friends, will have nothing to do with it.
etc etc.

I agree with jmcomms!!
Good reply mate!
Well, although i am a nokia fan, this is all bulls.
Although, Orange is not as big as vodafone say, I must say that the charger is direct connected to the phone. There is a special circuitry in each phone, that when the battery is full, it cuts of the power supply. That is maybe the reason that the charger is the same in all ericsson models( I have the same with my T68i), but the internal circuit in each phone is different.Although i don't expect many changes if i compare T300 and T310, let's say.
BUT, I believe, that someone connected the charger to his camera instead of the phone, and blowed up.
This is all bulls.
I know that I don't know anything.

yup, it's true.
I got a t610 on Wednesday from my local carphone warehouse (Aberdeen)
so I went in about an hour ago with my charger.
They had received an e-mail approx. 10 ins before I came in,
and promptly replaced my old charger that was made in Thailand by Delta
with one that is made in China by Astec.
The new one is called a standard charger CST-13.
The woman said that the faulty chargers could explode and expose the wires
and 'could injure anyone that is close to the charger'
!!!!????!!!!!
regards,
Kerwin (hiding under a desk while his T610 charges in the next room)

As we are talking about chargers, I have one (don't know where it comes from) in my bedroom and I recently noticed, while plugging my fiancee's T39m, that it actually makes noise!..
I mean:
- no noise when no phone plugged
- noise when phone plugged
The noise is like a very high tone whistle, and almost unaudible.
Maybe I didn't notice it before? Maybe it's gonna blow at my face?
Did any one notice the same? |

Can i be the first to laugh at all the idiots with their smart arse comments? What's so unbelievable about a faulty charger then? Some people don't know when to keep their mouths shut, this topic is messed up because of them.

Nothing is unbelievable about a faulty charger or even a batch of faulty chargers. Quite possible and good reason to recall boxes which contain them.
As you may have noticed: we are making fun of the explosion part.... as the first post of this thread... kinda suggested.... there's chargers exploding all over....

Yup, I agree,
but can we get back to the issue.
THERE ARE FAULTY CHARGERS OUT THERE!!!!!
They may or may not explode, if you have one that is made in Thailand by Delta and was purchased recently, YOU COULD BE AFFECTED.
If you don't believe me contact your nearest Carphone Warehouse store, they should all have had the notification by now.
The branches in Aberdeen (Scotland) ARE PULLING BOXES TO REPLACE CHARGERS. There was someone in the back shop with a pile of boxed
S.E. phones replacing the chargers as I got mine replaced.
This is not a hoax.
They even added a note to my file on their system that I had had my charger replaced (could be sending letters to affected customers????)
Sorry to be the bringer of bad news.......

I'm not talking about your funny bomb comments etc vlam, That's natural progression of the subject. It's things like gullible and flat out denials etc that annoyed me.

yup, mine was a 3 pin european, only 3 days old.
It never ran hot or made a noise.
I was put under the impression (by the woman that replaced mine)
that the 'fault' could cause the charger to short (she indicated somewhere around the cable entry) hence the 'explosion'
The thing that I find hard to work out is why have there not been any posts from people WITH exploding chargers?????
Could this be something that they found out internally????
Or have 'capped' the reports and done the recall????
Damage limitaion????

Kerwin

Mine's seems to randomly charge them stop and start again, could be the start of the fault. I'll be returning it tomorrow.

I would kinda stop using the charger just now
