ok that was a great responce. i have never bought anything that big over the net. some day i might if the k600 comes out soon. I hate that networks in eire nearly deal excuseivly with nokia. i think i might try and get a job with them as a sales rep and maybe i would be able to change that. |

SE have increased their share in the market though - since i got my T610 3 other lads in school have followed suit and theres been a Z600 bought as well. Its a big increase from when i was the only man that used an ericsson!
On the subject of bluejacking I was on Buseireann and moaning about the service (long journey, ignorant staff) - turned out the person i was jacking was the driver - eek!!! |

I think we're getting a fairly bad deal in Ireland - north and south!
Those of us living in the north need to send our handsets to Celectica - I'm not going to say any more about that shower of untrained monkeys! The ones from the Toyota add could do a better job of repairing phones.
In the south its not so bad but there is no walk in "Service Points" or "Service Centres" anywhere! Why?
All the last ericssons (before the merge) had flyers in the boxes announcing the service point concept and Ericsson had and still does have a reasonable number of employees in Ireland.
Yet what do we have?

@Neil Chen ,hey i got that idea too!!!
whenever i go into a phone store wit me friends i keep going on and on about the funtions of phones (particularly SE phones!!)and my friends said that i should actually work in der!!
is it the people around me or what...everytime i ask something about their mobile like :how many color is ur screen? how many pixels is ur camera? is it a CCD,CMOS,VGA ? how about the polyphonic ringtones,24,42,60? and all they could say is : oh it's a color screen,it's got a camera,oo the ringtones are poly ones..........
hey guys,just wondering is the Z500 gona come 2 europe or asia?well it's a triband so........although i still prefer S700 ,but i dont think Z500 wud b a bad option b4 hand
oh my god! i dont know why they even get the mobile if they dont have a clue anything about their mobile!! and the phoneshops too, they dont tell you all the details about them (maybe you could ask them and let them search from their bla bla bla book!and wait for an hour till they find it! )
in Hong Kong all the funtions and details of the phone are stated from every retail store tht sells that phone!
i mailed to vodafone before and ask them to put on more details about the mobile they're selling and they just tell me to browse the mobiles website! that is just so sad!

Hopefully nobody will take offence at this but hey - i wasnt born here but still have the full "Norn Iron" accent and have lived here most of my 17 years. Basically we Irish are a backwards people, generally quite conservative etc.
As a nation we're capitalistic - we're one of the freeest markets in europe and everythings a euro. I work in the Millets chain store - sells camping gear and has branches in the north as well as Tallaght and Blanchardstown and Galway. I think my employers attitude is broadly similar to that of those companies that sell mobiles. In short they exist for profit. They do not give a rats @RS.E. abou customer service or staff training. None of the staff in my shop could give you a compass bearing or tell you about magnetic variation or pacing if they were asked. Important stuff for anyone starting mountaineering. I'm the only one with any outdoors experience. It is my belief that mobile retailers operate in the same way, as long as your CV is half deacent they'll take you - it doesnt matter that you dont understand what GPRS, Bluetooth or HSCSD is, and it really isnt necessary that you learn what they are! All that matters is that you can point to an overpriced handset (compared to the UK) and tell you that "yes, its a nokia, its colour screen, camera, easy to use........,that will be €300!"

...ahhh ...good old magnetic variation ....does that affect GPS ? |

Deffgoat - was that a serious question? If your using a GPS my understanding is that you still do need to take it into account! I have a Garmin Etrex at the moment, base model couldnt afford any more! |
