Because 3G is a very small, limited market. SE already has 3G in Japan.
It could very well become a UMTS dual-mode phone like the z1010 though. |

You can't sell a UMTS-only product these days. People want both GSM and UMTS since UMTS coverage in most European countries is very limited.
But yes, I would prefer if the P810 was both UMTS and GSM compatible. But you can't have it all and besides, I doubt that there will be two cams for video conferencing on the phone. |

i don`t like the design of P810! I love the design of my P800 and i think that should keep the same design but smaller and lighter! The flip of P810 is very strange...see how it looks when in flip down!

"Why Are there no side shots? "
Very good question. I guess SE doesn't want to show us all details of the product (that means the previous pics are "true false" spy photos and were published with authorisation of SE )

dont know if its been said before, but this P810 looks like nothing more than a P800 with a modded case.
has anyone heard news about this from Sony Ericsson or got links to official spec sheets? ..no? |

maybe se hasn't shown anything from the side, because they have something special there - a ericsson member said in an interview that it is as twice as thine as a normal p800 - maybe they included the new jog-dial > the one on the concept[an older one], because so many complained about jog-dial on the p800 |

The looks of smartphones are so heavily dictated by the large screen OF COURSE its going to look like a p800, its an SE smartphone.
@Iceduck,P810 keypad will need a hardwired source of power to take the keypress info to the main phone, so it can easily have a powered backlight in there.
You talk a lot of sense on 3G, Truth is if you go & sign up for a 3G phone in UK then travel around the country using it, almost 90% of your use will be GSM use, as the 3G (video/messaging) is only available in major towns & main roads, making it a complete rip off.
On http://www.three.co.uk website they have a coverage map with light pink showing 3G areas & dark pink showing non 3G use, making it almost impossible to tell the colours apart unless you zoom in.
Make them look like a deceptive company.

For me to buy a P810 it would have to be a dual mode UMTS/GSM phone, otherwise it doesn't seem like enough of an upgrade to justify the extra cost. Of course it will still be a kick ass phone and will keep at the head of the pack with the most advanced phones.

y is everyone so UMTS oriented?
how many ppl do u know actually hv a UMTS phone? 0?
second, how many places actually support UMTS?
and how many networks support it?
making it UMTS is ridiculou for ppl where UMTS doesnt exist.. so y make it cost more so u can use it in like 5 cities with 1 person

3 has been launched in Australia in the last couple of months and it looks like it's gonna do quite well. Although I do not know anyone on 3 yet, it's because most of my friends are still on contracts, but most have said that they will probably change over when they get the chance. Someone has to be the first to get on board with a new technology, and it's usually me in my bunch of friends. Since the T68i was the first phone to support MMS and I had my T68m upgraded a month or so before the T68i was available, I would've been one the first in my city/country to have MMS- but I had noone to send them to. I'm just saying someone has to be the first, then others will follow....

@Bogus Jimmy
I totally agree with u
but the P810 wld become waaay too expensive it was GSM and 3G compatible
and the Z1010 doesnt work in N.A. cuz it is 3G
it wld not being able to hv the P810 as a world phone
all phones now hv MMS capability, but it is still not supported
hving a small feature included that u cant use is different than making a whole phone unuseable
