System Manager (SMan) v1.1 for your P800 finally here! |

That is because the System uses ram to start up a file and the system has a form of code string to each and every file. Just like with windows you got explorer.exe which uses more ram for every file you start. And after a while explorer.exe uses way too much ram so either you kill the app and then start it again (only in NT, 2000, XP, 2003 server). But with this phone you need switch it off and on again.
I tried closing System and the other hidden tasks. Just gave me like 100k more memory.

@Lordmikw
A Symbian OS shortcoming then..? Or can SMan 2.0 (!!) fix this..?
Steven.

I think it's symbian os shortcoming. And I don't think Sman 1.2 will fix this.
Though if droll continues adding as much as he does for every 0.1 (1.0, to 1.1 was a lot of changes) then we will probably not need symbian os when he is at 2.0 Nah but seriously, if it comes to that it will be thee best app in the P800's history. Though it's probably there already

Yeah, because sman can't see the files without qfileman.
That is, you start qfileman (File Manager) from Sman if you want.

So does SMan stick FileMan in its Start menu automatically?
i.e. SMan needs a file manager to compliment it?
Thanks. Steven.

Yes SPC Sman sticks Qfileman in the start menu automatically
@SPC
Having FlipKeypad,Sman,Applications,Beamer(I don't know what this is),Contacts,Messages,and Appicker on my snapshot, I still have 8.2MB ram.I am having R2d Firmware though. These progs I think are default apps becasue I did exactly as Ajack said above today and updated the snapshot. So if you can try doing the method Ajack mentioned it may solve the ram memory problem you are facing, with all respect to Lord Mike, like he said that may be an OS problem but this is worth a try I think

Beamer, Applications and Appicker can be 'hidden'; contacts and messages are really small applications I think.
As Lordmike and I have said though, prolonged use of the P800 (without switching off) slowly eats away at the free RAM tho'...I'm sure...
Steven. ;-P

@SPC/LordMike: v1.2 of SMan would have it's own file manager making qfileman obsolete, coz it'll be way better with more features and and an easier interface. It'll also have more new useful functions and... hell I'll post and updated feature list. Also, SMan v1.1a sources will be released with a new license to it. This should make it easier for other P800 programmers to make use of SMan's sources. :)

ajack: I love Sman1.1, however I have a suggestion for the next version...an audible alert for a sucessful bluejack would be much better as its very easy to miss the visual one. |

@all:
Droll and I are still working out on the feature list of SMan v1.2, things have been going great with a bit of restructuring of the menus to add the additional features/functions.
However, we have also recognised a need to support other languages. To begin with, I would like to see volunteers to help translate the SMan menu's and manual (you have to agree to both to be accepted) into the following languages, French, German, Spanish. You can also volunteer other languages and we'll see if it's not too difficult to implement.
You will need to agree to do both the menu's and manual, however, you could always get others to help you and we'll gladly credit both users for the effort. We only want to communicate with one contact person for both the manual and menu translations.
How else will you benefit... Droll and I have agreed that translators get to see the the menu file while we are busy developing the program and you will get the betas (maybe) and the final english version to play around with. Two (2) days after you get the final, we would expect the translations so that we can compile the program for release. If you miss the dateline, the language you are responsible for will be delayed the rest will be published first. If more time is needed, please let me know as I am guessing that two days in enough.
This is just a preliminary of things until I figure out how exactly we are going to do this, just wanted to see if you guys are interested in helping us make SMan easier to use speaker whose first language is not english.
If you are interested, please e-mail me your full name, handle, and e-mail address. If you want to know if your translation skills are up to it, please translate the existing SMan v1.1a manual into the language you would like to support and I'll see if others can make sense of what you are saying.
Please visit my site soon for more details on this.
Cheers,
ajack

Audiojack or Droll, could you briefly explain obex search errors 14, 25 and 6004?
Another thing; maybe an audible alert isnt necessary, cos that irritatingly loud nokia tone is adequate notification! ha ha

@jackblue
What progs have you had running when you got those errors and what where you doing the "second" you got them? I think that could be useful info for ajack to pass onto droll.
