One reads 12 million pixels in 10ms. While the other 19.2 in less than 9.
This is one of the reasons sony keeps 1/1.7" instead of going to 1/1.5" , 1/1.3" or 1/1.12" like other.
They would need to use more expensive tech to overcome this.
It costs more.

IMX400 was such a great sensor but completely underutilized for what it could do. Xperia people were focused at video at the time, kind of gave up on photography with very little incremental improvements. I remember back in the day at taking great low light shots as long as there was a single light source somewhere in the frame, that was before Pixel's night mode. I also remember taking great bursts with subject always in focus and very little motion blur.
New sensor is different technology altogether, it's much better stuff despite being lower in resolution. It takes all the features of IMX400 and turns it to eleven pretty much. |

No. Just Docomo version. Au and Softbank devices are gonna be sold in June.
Europe in July.
Clients in China can get it next week.
