A few weeks left till MWC opens its doors and we have a bunch of leaks from several OEMs like LG (G5), HTC and Samsung (whole S7 line), but kinda nothing from Sony. Wasn't there a rumor about Z5/6 Ultra being showed around MWC time (Q1/2016)? |

Yeah. No so much as a hint.

Simply might be because Sony isn't planning in introducing its flagships at MWC? Perhaps all we'll get is a new tablet and a mid range device, the one that leaked and possibly a smartwatch update. |

Dont think we'll be seeing anything major at MWC |

Looks like it might be a quiet year for rumours then.
The Z5 range is pretty much still the focus of Sony's marketing, I'm wondering how sales are going. The M5 is a decent phone but I can't see a new E series. If I was to bet, I'd expect to see a 6 inch phablet launched.
It's pretty much the only gap left to fill, size wise. C5 Ultra?

Sadly the z5 family of devices will hit the American market in the coming weeks meaning it has to compete with next generation handsets from lg, HTC and Samsung. All having a way more advanced CPU. |

If both samsung and LG manage to stick 1/2 inch sensors into their flagships, both the S7 and G5 will be in my sights for replacing my Z3. |

I think that Sony may tease the Z6 series launch at MWC, but have its own standalone launch event shortly afterwards, with the Z6 range launching at the end of June.

I think Sony should launch an add on accessory which shoots 360 degree vids.

Not only could that be suicidal for Sony, but it might be the last nail in the coffin for sony mobile. Either announce the phones at MWC and release them 2-3 weeks later or wait until later on in the year and again announce and launch within 3 weeks. Sony cannot go back to their old ways of announcing devices and then launching them months later when most people have forgotten about them.
Both LG and samsung will be announcing their devices a day before MWC, no doubt HTC will have their flagship at MWC as well. Sure Huawei might even bring something new or even Xiaomi. Regardless, the 3 main players will be present at MWC with their new flagships and as rumoured LG will be back stronger this year to deuce it out with Samsung.
I don't see how releasing a Sd820 device in june/early summer would be an advantage for Sony. Those who wanted a new device would have upgraded to either the new S7, G5 or new HTC. Some will wait for the new sonys but then by the summer, new iphone rumours will be out and waiting a few months more for the new iphone 7 is what most customers would do. Ok Sony can move up the release to say May, but then why not just launch at MWC and get it over with.
My Z3 is fine for now, not expecting Sony to bring anything amazing at the show after CES. |

I wouldn't be surprised if Sony decided to pull the plug this year.
For once I am going to be on the dark side with Ebato on this.
Ascriss, the Xperia Z3 is fine for me too but is not fine for the market or Sony.
The Xperia Z5 series is barely enough for the market, yet Sony decide to release the rest of the Xperia Z5 series to the the North American market now. Once the new flagship devices from Samsung and LG are released, not many people will consider the Xperia Z5 at all.

I don't follow all this stuff to quite the same degree as most of you, so the Z5 series look quite good to me (within the constraints of the processor available). Compact model variant if you want that, great camera, fast enough, waterproof(ish!), snazzy fingerprint sensor. Hang on. No one bothered about this ? No fingerprint sensor in US Xperia Z5 and Z5 Compact models Seems nuts if true.
