Viewing angles are great, no point arguing about it cuz of stupid Verge.
Anyway, Full size samples here

does anybody remember what Kaz said about play memories online having UNLIMITED storage for photos and video?
i'm looking up play memories online right now and it only says 5GB free. does the UNLIMITED only come into play once you get a Z1 and log into it from the phone? hmm

@Bono I'm sorry if it seems like I'm referring to you mate , But I was referring to others who seem to be nitpicking at every detail. No hard feelings mate.

The viewing angle is no good. Hope to see the improvement on retailing units. |

Well, after all the ups and downs with the rumors, I'm getting this phone. Even with the few small remaining problems, Z1 has incorporated more than enough improvements, both incremental and novel, to warrant replacing an old phone, maybe even a previous generation phone if you find yourself eager enough.
I find it funny tho, how people are denouncing the results of that side-by-side photo comparison, saying that it was posted to Sony's webpage, therefore it must be wrong.... Read: Independently tested (as was said earlier) with automated settings on each phone (auto should be the most versatile and best setting based on the manufacturers software prowess, eh?), and with those parameters Sony came out far ahead based on a demographically representative consumer group.
There's definitely some sneaky manipulation that place Sony at the top of certain graphs/charts, like declaring the 1020 and 808 ineligible for some megapixel spec comparisons based on their thickness, but even so, it beat the 1020 where it actually counted - the pictures.
I just wanna hear some sort of rebuttal from those who said "1020 will be better in low light due to bigger sensor".... it wasn't. Granted the 1020's xenon will blow the Z1's LED out of the water, but I happen to recall them talking up some big game on no-flash performance, where are you now? |

I'll wait for GSMArena review with a retail unit, it should give us a fair review, not saying the ones on Sony have been manipulated, but it'd be nice to compare two reviews together to verify

No worries. S Master does actually sound better. I once had a Sony system which had it and the sound when on it gave it an incredibly airy,crisp sound very expansive. As it's digital amplification it uses less power and runs less hot in a hi fi system so in a Sony mobile it should sound good in headphones. I also once had a Sony camera with G lens and BIONZ image processing and images were great. I also thought the G lens was better than Carl Zeiss

All the samples so far are AMAZING IMO. Easily on par or better than many Sony Cybershot digital cameras |

@Bono
Yes S master will make sound better in a hi-fi setup, or on a pair of full size headphones with higher impedance, I was referring to typical portable headphones or earphones which most consumer uses which I believe, will not have an effect on them, just like what I explained about headphone impedance. I highly doubt someone will use full size expensive headphones outside on the go using their smartphone to play music.
Agree about the G lens and Bionz processors, they make the images significantly better.

@reeflotz.. you'd be surprised how many people wear full size headphones on the go and plug them into their phone. i see it all the time. it's almost a fashion statement these days. of course, these people also plug them into their iphone or whatever.. so it's not like they have great amps either
screw the reviews. just let me order this thing already. i can't wait any longer!

About the benchmarks - GNOTE3 runs on Android 4.3 which provides a nice boost to benchmarks. So once Z1 gets 4.3 it will score same or better than N3. Same for Z Ultra
As for OIS, Z1 has SteadyShot stabilization which I believe is some kind of in body image stabilization system. So you won't miss OIS at all. Just see the intro video, sony has put a lot of emphasis on lack of blur and highly stabilized videos.
S-Master was dropped probably because Walkman is not dead yet ( Walkman F886). So it makes no sense to hurt the potential sales of the F886 by putting in S-Master amp in the Z1. Regardless, Z1 should still sound very nice and better than all previous Sony phones.

@moogoo
lol, well it would still depend if the headphones are of high impedance, just like AKG headphones and a couple of sennheisers. If it's low impedance then it'll still sound fine even if there's no S master amp.
