One way or the other, I like the surprise of the creativity everyone shows when they enter the competition.
We have these discussions every now and then, thats good. It makes us more aware of what and even more important how we capture things. I sincerely hope you all continue to take part in this friendly competition keep advising people how a photo could be even better or more interesting if one does this or that. I learned a lot here. thanks.

First of all, if the theme means open in a verb way,
that means something that must be open in a mechanical manner,
not naturally opens.
or abstractly open like an open speech. Or open season or whatever in terms of time.
i dont know how you people interprete things, english is not my first language, but still if the theme is open, means either we have to open things ourselve or make other people open it for us.
open sky should not be legit for the theme because there is no way u can close the sky.
i find esato still unchanged, cos the voting system only made people vote for picture they they think is mediocre than their entry pictures, hoping that the "better" picture than their entry doesnt win.
i hope there is a reform to the voting system, where people get to select three pictures, and each of them got marks,
for example the best of three got 3 points, second best got 2 points, third choice got 1 point,
and then the winner will only be announce after a total of marks by all voters combined.
that way we can select the true best winner.
if the marks for the winner is the same, then the one with the earlier entry gets to win because this is a time based competition. So usually people that post their picture at the end of the month got slight advantage.

The last chosen themes (including this one) were very bad ! |

Congrats hans.
I think a gentle reminder to take one's time before voting as votes shouldn't be changed is necessary come photo round-up time.
Voting should a free choice of the voter regardless, this the beauty of a vote.
Also, disqualification of photos from a theme should be down to the host. If the host doesn't want 'artificial' scenes then they can specify in the rules, and vice versa, I remember there was a theme where the subject HAD to be made by the shooter.
My personal opinion edges on the side of etaab, I prefer to see natural shots with some skill, but I leave it to the theme host to decide if they see a photo as fit for their idea of the theme.

Congratulation hihihans for the 2nd win. Now you can lit that cigarette and blow the puff. { cigarette smoking is injurious to health}
About change in voting system. I would say, the current voting system is best and need not to change. For ease, we are putting all pictures in one post prior to voting starts. One has to take some time evaluating all the pictures before casting the vote. And once vote is casted, be honest to it by not changing it.
Btw now its party time. Where should we come, hans??

But again I strongly register my opinion that current Voting system needs not to change. Keep things simple, avoid confusions and complexity.

i disagree.
voting system should be reform.
people tend to abuse it.
people voted for the bad picture than their own so that the best picture doesnt win.
no room for second or third option.
