AT&T will have this for $99/US on 3yr Contract. Also coming to Canada but which carrier is still unknown: Rogers, Telus Mobility, Bell Mobility (not likely hardly any Sony/SonyEricsson relationships in the past to speak of).
Personally, I still love my iPhone 4S - not just because of the simplicity (although highly limiting) but mostly because of the plethora of accessories (looking at the Bose SoundDock 10 this month) - however I think I may settle on this Xperia Ion as an upgrade before the next iPhone makes/breaks expectations. Pricing in the US is solid and to be honest of Sony/AT&T open up NFC Wallet purchasing apps/partnerships this WILL take off.

I can get an Ion from Asia pretty easily but just wondering would the phone support some wallet services here in NZ? They have invented a Snapper service (bit like Oyster card in London) where you tag on the bus with your phone and and tag off, and you can also pay other things with it. At the moment the only phone supporting it is an LG of some sort, but if I get the Ion with its NFC capability would it work? Or is that a question to the developer? I would love to get the Ion, money pending of course, I need to win the lottery!! |

Yup and 4.5 inch display!!! . They need to get the spec right!
The Xperia Ion just got a 50% price slash on At&t, gr8 news....this is hands down an irresistible offer!!!
Hey about the Engadget review, i am really confused, The XS and the Ion should sport the same 12mp camera but looking at the review they didn't like the XS camera but they liked the Ion's camera....... .

Detox you're on fire dude!!
Do you own the Ion?
btw, in the USA AT&T seems to be offering a bundle on XPeria Ion + Smart Watch!
I'm VERY curious how:
Xperia Ion/Xperia S+Smart Watch+Wireless Headset Pro work together for daily/weekly/monthly tasks?!

. No, I own the Xperia S. Who knows, if the Ion was available earlier ...
After a Tablet S WiFi 16GB and a black Xperia S, the SmartWatch is the last gadget (or rather accessoire like my cradle for the Tablet S?) left on this year's wish list at the moment. Damn you, Sony .

I just found out about the HSPA+ version that available on Sony UK website.
Major QUESTION: Will the HSPA+ able to use 4G on T-Mobile USA 4G? the specs seems that this phone have the bands, 1700 and 2100, in order to use the 4G on T-mobile.
if it can, then I have to seriously consider this or the Xperia Acro S.
I hope someone can reponse soon.
T-mobile USA network. Xperia x10i unlocked + 32GB / Xperia Neo Xperia TX LT29i Xperia Z C6606 Xperia L C2104 Xperia M Dual C2004 Currently using Xperia Z1s C6916 (T-Mobile USA)

Well, why am I not surprised that Phone Arena finds the other three devices - SGS3, HTC One X and LG Nitro HD better than the Ion? And why did they change the wallpaper from Sony's depressing black to this sweet colorful Touchwiz-like background? Not to mention Ion's poor performance in terms of browser, camera and multimedia.

It took me some time to read all the reviews Xperia blog has collected here - http://www.xperiablog.net/201[....]on-review-roundup-att-edition/ and all I can say is that I fully agree with all of them. Ion is nothing more that a mid-range phone, and as one of the reviews says - "Mid-range phones are all about compromise, and the Xperia ion is definitely compromised." Same applies to Xperia S, GX, the rest of the 2012 Xperia line. I came to the conclusion that you'll buy them only if you don't mind the old processor, OS, bad performance, design, display, camera and multimedia and Sony's unappealing and ugly UI skin with all that bloat. That's it. As thay say - if you want something more - go for Samsung, HTC, LG, Motorola, Apple, MIUI or the rest. Xperia phones are only for die-hard Sony fans or people, looking for something cheap ( even though they're quite expensive for what you get, especially without contract ).
