As someone mentioned earlier in this thread the sheer amounf of attention the iphone recieves is indicitive of just how good it is and just how envious others are of it. I guess iphone owners can take it as a compliment.
Well, its obviously a matter of taste, i got to say it have some positive things, but i still dont like it. If you do, then great.
Maybe the Iphone will cause world war III , who knows ? XD
What sets is apart is that normally if you dont like a particular phone you wouldnt spend so much time in that phones thread on a forum telling others so much how you DON'T like it.
Yet with iphone it seems everyone who doesn't like it feels the need to tell everyone how much they don't like it. Why do you think that is?
They are either closet iphone fans or are just envious that no one is giving their formely uber cool S60 device the same attention. It's kind of like an old girlfriend crying out for attention when a new better looking girlfriend comes along.
lol .....true words, and that just sums up the thread completely [ This Message was edited by: NoKia on 2009-02-08 18:03 ] |

Actually, i didnt spend SO much time reading, it was like 5 minutes because half of the post in this thread were yours . Anyways, who would be envious of a phone ? That would be very sad. It looks like Apple´s Iphone is your girlfriend because you defending it every time .
PD: i dont like S60 either, i like SE |

I got to play with an iPhone on saturday as my friend has one. Loved the interface but didnt like the keyboard for texting much.
One thing I have observed with iPhone users (only taken from the 3 people I know who use one)is that they say they love it and wouldnt get rid of it but then say that they dont like the phone or texting part, which to me is the most important part of a phone.
Checkout my photos at My Website"Duct tape is like the force. It has a light side, a dark side, and it holds the world together." |

Each to his own I guess. I think in fairness most iphone owners will have some feature of the phone for which they are not entirley impressed. For me it's the camera but as far as text input goes it's brilliant for me. I can text faster with this than with a phone that has solid keys. Im guessing thats becasue I am typing with both hands, like a BB.
I admit when I first used it I found text input a bit of a pain for maybe the first week but once you get used to it there is nothing to beat it.

agree on text input. my first day or two were filled with inaccurate typing as I was trying to type as I had on WM TYTN etc
but then I got into the flow of letting the iPhone do its thing and you can type a text message with what "feels" like you're typing some Welsh town name or something, and it gets across to my wife correctly as "I'll be home in 15 minutes"

Phone and text are two of the major strengths of the iPhone for me. I know some avid texters don't like that you can't forward SMS (from the standard app), but that aside it works very well, and the keyboard is absolute genius. You'll never "get it" in a shop as there's a small learning curve involved (as with most on screen keyboards) but once you're up and running its fantastic.
Can't fault it as a phone - it's certainly a lot easier and less frustrating to use than my old WinMo phone. Everything's laid out on screen clearly, the proximity sensor is great, the calls are loud and clear, I never have trouble with signal... basically perfect.

i actually really like texting part of the phone and the conversation mode view was a very good idea(watch all the other phone makers soon start to incorporate that bit;) )
with every phone, there is a learning curve with data input, but once ur fingers adapt its a breeze and autocorrect works really well |

I don't mind the txting, it's the My Words function I miss from my SE phones. The first thing I do with a new phone is add in all my favourite names and places to speed up txt entry but can't do that with the iPhone, and Apple's version of T9 is not as good as SE's IMO. The camera and lack of video calling bug me but the biggest problem is the ease with which I accidently bump the Silent Mode switch. Grrr... Still lovin' those Apps and the multitouch though, so all is forgiven.

I love the silent switch, nice and simple. If I could add anything, I'd put in another switch just like that for the wifi, since I like to switch that on and off regularly to save on battery life.

@carkitter Definitely agree with the annoyance regarding not being able to add your own words in to the text database. It should at least hold a list of the commonly typed words, and learn not to correct them. It annoys me when i quickly type 'Xx' at the end of the text to my g/f and it always corrects it to 'Fx' lol
@Boinng, IMO Apple really have a lot to learn from the functionality that the jailbreak brings to the table. You can add a wifi toggle to your springboard, or even better (for me) SBSettings which only requires a quick swipe across the status bar to bring up fast toggles such as wifi, bluetooth, brightness etc. |
