Its funny that the guy who started all this so quietly ran away. Yes I'm pointing at you mizzle! I think you over estimated your abilities to get a worthwhile answer, or better, ANY answer from the president.

Paid $900 to learn one thing from P990i, “SE never values their customer’s money”.
I don’t understand when somebody complain about some companies or products, why some other people become angry? Is there anything that we the normal users don’t get from them secretly?

Luckily, it wasn't $990 for the P990I
Seriously though,:se: screwed me properly with the P990 and I have not bought anything from them since. I believe that plenty of those on here who are saying that people should forget about what happened are persons who just get their phones on contract so that it does not affect them as much if any.

For those who ask us to forget this, how does it feel to get cheated of your money?Have you ever been cheated off so much money?Unless you have owned this phone from the launch days, and used it,you shouldn't ask us to forget this.
Just a while ago,i was listening to a song.I thought of getting some info on the song,so opened the Opera mini(main browser would have never opened or closed the music application) and as expected the Opera mini opened on 2nd attempt.Once the google page was loaded, the music running in the background shut off. There was no other application running. This is so typical.
I bought this phone not to use as a business phone, but to mainly surf the internet in the large touch screen while listening to music and also to take good pictures with its 2mpx cam(k750 quality). These were the only reasons i paid 755$ for this phone. This phone fails miserably at both these functions and se know this and did nothing.
So why should i trust se with another phone?X1/p next promises so many things..but will it function 100% as advertised?I am very sure 'NO'..when it fails,I bet 'someone' will say that se are new with wm/uiq4 or something,so it happened..you should have used your brain. |

The point is, it doesn't really matter what SE promises for their next flagship device does it? After all they had made a lot of promises for the P990 and we all know how that worked out...
P990i: A mistake, a curse and a disgrace So I lowered my expectations and settled for a P1i. I couldn't keep my expectations so low for a long time so now I have an HTC Touch HD |

you should never trust any manufacturer on the release of a new phone. If you value your money, ALWAYS wait a few months and check forums to see what early adopters are finding.
If you just can't help yourself and have to be the first, then when you get a phone that is faulty demand your money back (as consumer law entitles you to get your money back if you purchase something that doesn't work as advertised). They will want to replace the unit, maybe try one replacement but if after that it still doesn't work as intended they can't just fob you off with another phone - they have to refund your money.
I don't disagree that people should be unhappy with SE over the P990, but it seems to me that so many people just accepted the shit rather than do something constructive about it. No OEM is worth your loyalty. Once you found a phone is shit, demand your MONEY BACK!
Same story for X1. Who knows what state it will be in when released? But I do know this, I want it, but I won't be buying it as soon as it's available. I'm not prepared to go through the heartache. However if after a few months no one is having major problems with it I'll start to look at getting one. WHo cares what happened to the P990? I mean, yes we care that some people had a shit time with it, but in terms of new phones from SE, who cares about the P990? The lesson to be learnt from P990 is not to never buy SE again: the lesson is to never buy something when it first hits the market. Be one of the smart ones and wait. Let the people with more money than sense be the ones to guinea pig the new phone.

Great post max, again.

Couldn't have said it better myself, max. I spend a lot of time researching on potential phones before I make my purchase. The wait also allows me to read about any issues faced by early adopters as well as allow the manufacturers to come up with better firmware updates. Yes, we expect stuff we buy to just work, but in reality, that's often not the case. |

Wise words but if everyone looked no one would be leapin'.
I still believe that it is the manufacturers responsibility to assure a certain level of quality before putting their products on sale...

You are absolutely right, but in the real world unfortunately we just can't expect it. And there will always be people willing to be guinea pigs in order to have the latest - this will never change
All people with a crap handset can do is take those faulty handsets back, demand a refund and go elsewhere until things improve.
If the manufactfurer can't sell phones, or a high percentage of the phones they do sell get sent back, then they are forced to face the issue. On the other hand if people hang on desparately to their crap phone, hoping all the problems get fixed, but whine about it in forums, very little changes. btw, I'm not saying people shouldn't whine in forums, they are perfectly entitled, but this shouldn't be their ONLY course of action. It achieves nothing in terms of pressuring the manufacturer.
In this respect, dogmann has the absolutely correct response, in that he took his P990 back and gave Nokia his money instead. I maybe don't agree with the way dogmann takes it personally, and seems to dismiss ALL SE products instead of just the offending units, but overall I agree with his actions. He at least takes constructive action.

What Makbil said is true. If everyone looks before they leap, then no one would be leaping, and you won't get the review that you need of the phone you're interested in, simply because everyone's being cautious, this is the ideal situation max_wedge is talking about so in the ideal situation, this 'suggestion' or 'piece of advice' doesn't work. In reality, people WILL get victimized because someone will take the leap, so both ideally and in reality it's really not a well thought and rather blind defence on SE's behalf. Even if other manufacturers produce buggy early devices, they admitted and addressed to the problems accordingly either by providing software solutions (Nokia) or financial compensations (iPhone) while SE did the absolute opposite thing by denying any remaining problems and declaring officially that the phone doesn't have memory leakage/memory problems. Based on these statutes, I'd like to see you dispute this undisputable fact that SE is unethical and deserve our bashing max_wedge
