Yeah. Not many people know about this crisis. Put it up on the main page. Make this thread a sticky.

Rather than ask SE to sponsor the site... which will take time for them to set up and investigate their likely return on investment. Why not ask SE to donate a free P800 (which everyone is up for) and which would be much easier for them to agree to. Then, anyone who donates $20+, for example, is entered into a draw to win the phone.

@wus
Really liked you idea about letting donate a P800 and let one of the donators win this phone. It shouldn't require so much decision making from , and it's something they could confirm on quickly.

Thank you Laffen.
Yes, I'm sure it can work. This way people can make up their own minds : either they are donating to Esato or they are trying to win a much sought after phone. You could state in the rules of the draw that the phone can only be won after a certain amount has been received. (This way if SE say NO, you could always provide the prize yourself out of the donation money... only once financially prudent).
Hope it works. |

...in fact, coming to think of it, why not try and acquire several phones. That way you could hold a monthly prize draw and thereby help ensure a constant revenue stream. |

Thanks Laffen! It's nice to see some progress - even though it's not that great.
Hope it continues into bigger numbers! |

Can anyone post the bank account number. I haven't got a credit card, so paypal isn't an option.

Just finished the doantion process using paypal. Hope that others will follow soon...
This great site should be kept alive at any cost. Think it seriously laffen. Charge members an anual amount for subscription, for a particular set of services provided here by this site. Let some other services free.
Many sites are using this tactic right now. You should, at least, break even!!!
I am whising the best for you & for the site. |

Dear Laffen, Esato crew and Members,
With the advent of the Internet, geographic distance no longer prohibited people from finding community with other individuals who shared similar interests and values. Almost overnight, people from around the world could swap ideas, emotions and share enthusiasm over their passions.
I have experienced many such 'virtual communities' throughout the years, and I feel strongly that the camaraderie and friendship shared between Esato users represents something much more than just a cell-phone bulletin board. Sure, I've used Esato to download backgrounds and ringtones. Even more importantly, I've had my trouble-shooting questions answered by reading through the wealth of technical data found within the boards. However, it is the human element, the companionship I feel from other Esato users that makes this a truly special place.
In my letter to Sony-Ericsson, I will state that it’s their obligation to support their end users. Often, Customer Service Representatives of typical service providers are incompetent or just incapable of addressing the concerns and technical issues confronting many SE users. SE users need places like Esato to receive the help their providers can’t provide. By supporting Esato, SE will directly and indirectly increase their customers’ satisfaction. In addition, I believe sites like Esato help stimulate buyer interest in SE products. To illustrate, I would have never heard about the P800. But because of what I have learned on Esato, I would gladly give $300+ to SE if their P800 was available today.
I don't want to imagine life without Esato. It is an information and community resource that is too important to let fade away.
I am donating $20 today. I think the P800 raffle is a great idea. I would spend another $20 for a raffle ticket.
Laffen, please post details on exactly how much money is needed by which dates. Also, please continue to post updates regarding the donation account balance. Above all, please give us hope that it might be possible to keep Esato alive if enough members contribute.
KEEP ESATO ALIVE!
