3 days with my P1 (it is my first smartphone):

- 1 reboot after scanning for WLAN. worked fine since then.

- Installed tons of apps and games (TomTom, Tube 2, Agile Msg, Lemmings, Divx Player, Dreamconnect, Fring, Another ball, Handy day, Handy Clock, Brothers in Arms) Not a single problem. I can run up to 10 apps without a hitch. Some of them take some time to open but once they're open, everything's fine.

- Setup my Gmail acount, got all my emails without a problem through Home Wifi or GPRS.

- Used Business Card reader, works well.

- The picture quality of the camera could be improved compared to the K800 but it's much better than any HTC device and I believe slightly under N95 (not much of an issue here).

- The touchscreen is great, I can use it to write short messages quite quickly (you need to read the booklet though to be able to draw all characters). I've heard turning the handwriting recognition makes the interface snappier but I haven't tried yet.

- I'm getting used to the keyboard. Many times, I though I hit the wrong key or side of the key and the right letter appears . I guess I just have to do some "faith-typing".

- the battery already last longer after 2 power cycles.

I think that's about it really. The phones looks amazing, feels great and the few bugs reported on Esato are not bothering me at the moment.

All in all, nice buy FOR ME.

you need the headphones as these act as the antenna, but you can have the sound come through the main speaker!

1 - Works beautifully with the FM stations in Singapore. BTW the new interface is uber-slick!

6 - Sorry, don't quite get what you mean...

If you look here:
http://uiq3.sourceforge.net/wiki/index.php/R6D23
I'm talking about #68 and #96, if you click on the numbers there are details on how to reproduce them.
I would appreciate if you could look there and give a try on the P1. Thanks for the effort.

I have no problems with RDS on my P1 in Stockholm, Sweden. Most stations here do not show any info aobut the music/program but the three that does (P1, P2, P3) work fine. i checked a few times and it changed between programs.

maybe with the release of new p990i firmware, the P1i will get one soon. I only gripe so far is really the camera quality. Not great compared to N95 and even compared to some still 2mpx cameras. The color could be a little more saturated and not so washed out looking. Hopefully firmware fixes this and not hardware issues.

A new fw has just been released for the P990 but first impressions are that it is closer to R5 than a new version - so expected of SE...
So don't get your hopes up yet for a fw update for the P1.
P990i: A mistake, a curse and a disgrace So I lowered my expectations and settled for a P1i. I couldn't keep my expectations so low for a long time so now I have an HTC Touch HD

I don't think we will see P1i update this fast. Sure, SE needs feedback on what's wrong first.

OK, I will not carry it further on this thread, however SE had plenty of feedback for the P990 but they just didn't care. What makes you think the situation for the P1 will be different? Even if I had in the corner of my mind to replace my P990 with a P1, I don't anymore. What's the point in switching a bunch of bugs with another bunch of bugs and pay SE more money in the process?
I was really hoping the P1 would be at least free of the known bugs but what I'm reading here looks like the earlier posts in the P990 threads.
One question for you guys, is the build quality of the P1 as good as that of the P990? That's the only reason why I'm still keeping the P990 in its current condition and I'd like to know that just in case SE offers me a replacement P1 for my P990.

Can anyone test the DUN functionality on his P1i? I have major problems while connecting a P1i to a TomTom GO 910 and downloading Traffic services. I need to press the system (download traffic) over and over again to connect it and the P1i has problems connecting to my TomTom GO 910. After several tries it starts working and traffic is downloaded.

This problem really has to do with the P1i. However it looks worse than the P990i which had the same issues. Feel free to comment on this!

The build quality is excellent, better than any other phone I have seen. In some ways better than P990 because of the richer & sophisticated design of the phone. Screen is much better; you hardly miss the extra size. Because of the materials used, you will have to get used to fingerprints, but that is the price you pay for thr latest fashion, I suppose.
