That's the spirit. Cheers to Boba.
Anyway, yes. Here in Finland, I can try the BT headset, or phones. Can't take them home but I can put my sim card in, make some calls, put the phone through the paces.
Nokia has said that there will be a replacement for the current slider mechanism on the N95. We will see if this happens or not. As for the battery life, there is not much more to be done with it. There is only so much code optimization can do. Nokia obviously made a decision to go for a smaller phone than rather extended battery life. This can be seen in the design of the GPS system. Why place the antenna under the keyboard unless space was at a premium. What this means is: if long battery life is a concern, then don't buy the N95, and don't complain.

YES!!!!!!!!!!!11
I recommend using the charger that came with the phone it has a higher output voltage than the one that comes with the E61 or E series phones. They charge at 300 mAh, while the N95 charges at 800 (can't remember the exact number off the top of my head) mAh.

I am very interested in purchasing an N95 as I'm the type of person who doesn't mind charging my phone regularly (I really don't care when I'm sleeping ). So - according to most people, it's best if I buy the phone from a store and make sure I check the slider mechanism?
That's quite unfortunate because the best deals seem to be online...

yeah, check it first on your own, but also check the fone itself too, a mean the keypad, menu etc if it really fits your needs

Okay...thanks!
Only problem now is finding a good deal. Looks like this is going to cost me a fortune! Hopefully O2 will give me a good upgrade

we got many good traders here, u just have to ask around a abit...
but back to topic.: did u already tested it for longet then 2 mins for example? well, if u dont use gps, then the fone should survive 1 day without charging imo. set the backlight to the lowest level, turn off everything whats not needed etc

Hi Boba,
Good advice there i always turn things like WiFi or Bluetooth off whilst not needed although would never turn off 3G. Although as i love my screen i have the Light Sensor set to max with 2 minutes Power Save Time out and 30 seconds for the light time out and still am more than happy with my battery performance. Although if and when i am in the car i do use a Nokia original charger to top it up as listen to quite a lot of Music so a quick charge on the way to and from the fields does help maintain the battery charge level.
Just to put some of these battery compliants in perspective i find the battery life and screen brightness to be much better than when i had a M600 as listening to Music on that devce really killed the battery and that devcie didn't even have WiFi.
Marc

I think newer batch of phones, slider problem has been fixed. 3 of my friends bought recently and none of them have slider problem. I bought very early but I dont have problem with slider. I also found my friend's new batch slider is slightly different in feel to mine. The new batch slider feels less springy (i.e. more rubbery feel when sliding). The slider on mine has more resistance and it locks into open position with a thud. The newer slider feels like you need to push all the way to lock into position (and the lock has gentler thud).

to be honest, its not that bad is it has a little pay, cos when it falls, it wont brake that easy. but the n95 had way too much play for my taste and next to it very noise

Maybe what you have bought may be old stock. |
