What about the screen...? Is it really that bad and not up to date with other high-end phones?

How do you make a phonecall...??? Do you slide out the keyboard, enter the number and then slide it back inside again...? (Hey I'm a P900 owner so it's ok for me to ask... )

When you make sms or otherwise make text input - is there then some kind of the phone suggesting words? (like the P1i)

I've never found the TyTN screen to be bad, at least no worse than most others.

no need to slide the keyboard out to make a call. Just press the green phone button and a dialling pad appears on screen and you can use the stylus or your fingers to do the dialling. As you dial, each contact that contains the (combination of) letters represented by the digits you press are shown for quick access or you can just simply dial the number directly

Windows Mobile does have predictive text

Ok I see

Doh! I just looked at the size and weight - it's allmost the same size as my P900... And I've always said that the only down-thing about the P900 was it's big size...
So it must be the P1i then - but again that one doesn't have inbuilt GPS... I just cannot decide...

masseur i´m planning to buy this phone in a few weeks but i need some information regarding:
- Sound Quality (Is it as good as SE?)
- A2DP: Sound Quality and battery drain (Since there is only a mini usb port i will need to use this feature to have my own earphones working)
- GPS: Will it Work with others programs? (not just only tomtom). Im asking this because N95 GPS only work with nokia maps.
- Screen: Is it visible at direct sunlight?
- Battery: It can always be used for all day long without need charging?
- Messaging: Can you write messages (with your fingers) using touch screen with just one hand easily? It got delivery reports and fast contacts ( a list with last contacts used like on SE phones)

Thank you ;)

- Sound Quality (Is it as good as SE?)

sound can be a little tinny at times. There is just a single speaker at the back on this model. Its plenty loud enough though

- A2DP: Sound Quality and battery drain (Since there is only a mini usb port i will need to use this feature to have my own earphones working)

I charged up my DS970's the other day but didn't get around to testing them with this yet. Will do that this w/e
for a small amuont you can get a mini-usb to3.5mm adaptor so you can use any headset and for a little more you can get an adaptor with a microphone for full call functionality

- GPS: Will it Work with others programs? (not just only tomtom). Im asking this because N95 GPS only work with nokia maps.

so far I have used the internal GPS for TomTom, google maps, microsoft live search maps and also the old Microsoft Streets so I expect you can use any program. The GPS is accessed via COM4.

- Screen: Is it visible at direct sunlight?

its as good (or bad) as most other device. P1 is probably a little better

- Battery: It can always be used for all day long without need charging?

how long is a piece of string it depends on what you are doing of course, but you should get a full days use but don't expect much more. Its the one down point I have with the TyTN II but I do keep a spare USB cable at work, just in case

- Messaging: Can you write messages (with your fingers) using touch screen with just one hand easily? It got delivery reports and fast contacts ( a list with last contacts used like on SE phones)

you can certainly dial numbers on the on screen pad with your fingers but the buttons on screen qwerty keyboard is probably a little too small. I much prefer to simply slide the full keyboard out myself

Hi Dicky Snapples!

I haven't ordered yet, because I am not at home to collect! I think I will order soon but.....

still not 100% sure because I tend not to use mobile internet and my main interests are music and video. Ninety five percent of my email is Japanese so I would need to install Japanese support.

I wonder whether to keep my W950i and buy an Archos 704 WiFi or something similar.

Of course, that means carrying 2 devices and perhaps a third if I put my camera in my pocket ! I have gps on an old Tungsten T3 as well as on my W950i.

My head hurts at the moment ! Managed to save 100 pounds by selling unwanted items !

Wow!!

Just saw your link masseur and just installed Google Maps on my old T3 !

I was impressed ! But my Google Map map defaulted to Tokyo

Amazing !! This is making me think it is time to order the TyTn II !

I am reading now but can google maps be access using a GPS Receiver such as a Holux?

The native windows mobile google maps suports GPS but I'm pretty sure the java version doesn't. I have no idea about the palm version but if it does support GPS then I'm sure the holux will work for you

edit: googling suggests the palm version does support GPS so you should be right

Hi!

I found a small program called 'Where am I' which gives the coordinates from the Holux, these can then be found in Google Maps.

But the two don't work simultaneous, I think because of 'port sharing' .

I don't understand well, but I think GPRS with Vodafone is weak where I live but a few miles down the road the 'globe icon' appears on my phone.

I think the TyTn II must be so much better than my old Tungsten T3 for google maps etc.

The only thing I need to learn now is how well the TyTn II works with Vodafone services. I guess not a problem..... ?
