The following article appeared in the Irish Businesspost last summer - it's about the lack of high-end phones... Yes it's very much about Ireland, but I bet you'll "get" SE's attitude and business intentions! Bear in mind that at the time the article appeared, you could buy ready to go at vodafone ireland e.g. 9300i, 8800, and some other non-SE handsets well above the euro 600.00 mark... The top Se phone at the time was w800 (voda) and w550 (O2)... Both constantly sold out!
So, SE comments are clearly just a distraction from a low-end driven strategy! :

(oh, also bear in mind that at the time O2 shops were starting to sell the entire i-pod range...) [addsig]

i must say nokia is just showing its iconic prowess in mobile industry as it announces multiple handets at this point in time while some manufacturers are at slow pace. it is some sort more of nuetralizer to different speculations and expectations from mobile eager consumers, a passive psychological harrasment or bully to aspiring and ambitious player like SE should i say or to all of them. at the same time a hidden panic state or pressure to nokia itself.

long live nokia!!!

i just wish an all in one package of good stuff, but i hate a fast turnover of technology demands by consumers creating so much pressures to manufacturers racing each other and losing one another.

I dont think SE want to be better than nokia in terms of high end phones at this stage. They are doing what works best for them, which is the mid range. 2008 will be the year where SE will work towards a larger amount of high end phones that can compete with Nokia, at this stage they simply cant. Mid range phones give SE a larger profit, so next year, SE can compete and throw in every technology under the sun in their phones.

was just reading over some user opinions of the e61i over at GSMArena, and came accross this comment from a user called 'Nokia Expert Designer' (or it could be designer, that word might not fit ) :

"""This phone is targeted towards the business audience. We've made it more slimmer and compact in comparison to the previous Nokia e61. The Nokia e61 was covered in plastic while this mobile handset is covered in stainless steel. A 2 megapixel camera has been also added along with many software updates.Anyone who is wondering if this mobile handset is music oreintated-it is. There is an amazing media player and the speakers have been tested and work really well. This phone is great for watching videos and is great for Wi-fi. Look forward to the n81 if you like to play games a lot and listen to music with 8GB built in memory. Also look forward for the n82, which features Wi-fi, a 5megapixel camera with Xenon flash and integrated protection. That's all the specs I'll tell you guys. These new handsets will come out at the end of 2007 (December), and they will cost more than 500 dollars. By the way, I'm from Germany. I hope this information helps."""""

if this guy actually does work for nokia, then it seems the n81/n82 will infact come in q4, but not until the end of q4...

Nokia Expert Designer?

i think if someone expert will post on a thread, he/she won't put that ridiculous name, instead he/she'll post his real name. i think he's just a pretentious and aspiring nokia worker/fanatic. cetainly doubt him so much.

SE wake up,you are letting SE users down,

Nokia is releasing phones after phones and SE has 1 release per month...

also better start getting your phones more tech savvy.....

@razec

I really don't get the point you are trying to make as this is not the only post confirming the the spec and there are even pictures of both the N81/N82 on numerous forums and the details have come from very reliable sources.

These phones will be released this year possibly in Q3 but if not by Q4 and both IMO are great looking devices with great specs. The N82 with Xenon flash 5 mega pixel camera and being a smart phone will be big competition for the still unannounced SE 5 mega pixel camera phone and prove that Nokia is still improveing thier devices and not just rehouseing them as new models.

in fact I read about N81 on m-r where Eldar said that N81 isn't a true successor of N91.I supposed that looking at the photos for the first time.Diferent form factor, materials, lower number(81),etc.Well it may be just for difference from N91,but doubtfully. And I was waiting for it because I thought it'll have DSP.But for now,no info about DSP,nothing. So I think that its a lower class music phone than N91.Eldar said true N91 successor will be announced the next year.I tend to agree with him as I was thinking the same thing before I read that from him.
But nothing is for sure now,so I'll wait N81 to see the daylight and then decide.Maybe the successor of N91 will be called N94 or N96 IMO.

Why can't Nokia embed tri-mode 3G like HTC?

I know Boba, but I was thinking the same thing too.If he says its not N91's successor, I don't automatically trust him.I have logical reasons to agree with Eldar(lack of DSP in particular, though not sure for now, as I said).I know he is guessing, just pointed out that his opinion was the same as mine.No offence,Boba, but please read carefully what I post.

Cheers!
