After the update I am getting restarts for performance on a daily basis. I never had the issue before. Is anyone else having this problem after the update? Perhaps running ActiveSync and Bluetooth is too much.
ActiveSync now seems much more consistant on the plus side. |

Hi Guys, I was facing the same issue too. I sort of imagined it was related to the restore I did after installing the new firmware. So, I reinstalled the new firmware yet again and this time, did not restore. Only copied all the contacts and other stuff which I store on Mobical. This seems to have gotten rid of the issue. The phone has restarted only once in the last 6 days. |

So a re-flash may seem to help? My phone is in the service center for an unrelated repair. Let's see what a service center flash will do for the restarts. |

If you put in in auto and go to brightness settings and choose 0% or 1% it'll be almost off.
I've put mine on 5% and it's turning off after a minute, I mean completly off. Nice.
PS: I have the latest FW update.

Ive found that if you have the inactivity lock enabled then it goes off after a while when charging, or you can use the phone in handheld mode, which means it goes off regardless.

Hi gregface, where can i find the inactivity lock?

Got hold of BBC 3.45 - doesn't seem to work on latest firmware (Phone firmware version is *R9EA001) .
I had used BB connect 3.37 on previous firmware on provider Airtel. Uninstalled that, installed latest firmware, switched to new provider (Hutch), installed BB Connect 3.45 but no pin being generated.
I know someone who had a similar PIN problem when nitialising his BB Pearl for the second time but on the same provider (Airtel) - ultimately he could only solve the problem by formatting the phones internal memory card.
Obviously BB Connect stores something on your phone between installs to prevent regeneration of PIN.
So, next thing is for me to format internal disk (not the add on memory card) on my P990.
Question is: Will the format routine reinstall manufacturers default apps also or will it leave a blank phone ?
If format routine also reinstalls manufacturer's defaults, will it do it as per the phones firmware version at time of purchase or per the last firmware updated ?

Once you have installed the BBC you need to reset the phone and restart.
This generally sorts any issues with BBC.
If when you navigate to the PIN screen, it does not show up, use the jog dial to scroll down and up, and often it then appears. No idea why, but I often find this 'issue'

@floatlite
Thanks.
Not sure what you mean by reset ? How do you do it ?
Is it a master reset you are referreing to - if so, where do I do it from and will it reset all my settings for other stuff to defaults also ? |

he wouldn't mean master reset as that would clear all your settinsg and your would lose any programs you installed, including BBC
I've never used BBC but I'd say he means simply turning off and on

I checked up with the BB user - what he used was the "Wipe Info" or "Wipe disk" option - not formatting. Does the BBC client for P990 (or any other non- RIM handset for that matter) have this "Wipe" option ? |
