Yes, it is a worthwhile trick to learn, I remember I bought a faulty w900i off ebay for £120 odd pounds, it was dead, a simple firmware flash, which took about 20 mins, and it was ready to be sold for a whopping £320.

Net profit of 172.31

not bad for a hobby.

@ gregface
I had a w900i once, the damn thing kept dying after file transfer via usb, flashed it like 3 times, the third time it flashing didnt work, finally got rid of it, costed me like over 70 AUD on flashing, and lost 300 AUD tru selling it off, brand new had it for 3 months only, although i sent an email to the guys who i flashed it from and managed to get a refund off some of my credit, lol

Sorry not been about much of late, not been much to report. Got something now though!

Recieved a secondhand data ribbon off Gregface, who very kindly mailed it to me free after he found one knocking about. It had a couple of knocks to it, but I've just fitted it to the D500 and so far it's working perfectly! It now slides shut smoothly, opens smoothly, no 2mm gap when it's shut due to the ribbon not being as long!

In fact I think I found out the reason why it wasn't shutting properly, this ribbon is actually the right size, it's just that where the ribbon was connected to the LCD part of the phone had 'folded' itself in the wrong place, so it was in effect 2mm shorter, which was why I had so much trouble getting the connector in, and why the phone wasn't shutting properly.

One little problem I have found though is that the charger for the phone is a little bit faulty - you have to wiggle the cable at the plug end and get it in a certain position for it to work, but this is no biggie, can still sell the phone as fully working!

I'll be listing the phone now on Ebay either tomorrow evening or the evening after, i'll just make sure the phone is working. I'm a happy bunny now!

Phone is still working fine, so have just listed it on Ebay, just click the link in my signature to go to it! It's a 3 day auction, so will end on Saturday evening.

Let's hope for a bit of profit!

I'm hoping for a bit more, but it would still be a bit of profit if it went for that! Only 3 watchers and one bid so far, but still 2 days to go!

I'm keeping my eyes open! Yes, the next project will hopefully be something like a K750i, or perhaps a W800i if I'm lucky.

Either that or I might go for two cheaper phones - for example a V3 and a 6230, I'll see what comes up.

The D500 is still only on 99p though and only got 4 watchers! Bidding's started a bit slow on this one, I'm hoping for a last minute bidding frenzy!
