They've been going in the UK since 1984 Kerry.

Transformers is coming up to 25 years old now. Some of the early figures were actually available in older Japanese toy lines from 1976 onwards.

Got loads of Generation 1 and the 90's Beast Wars figures all boxed up in the loft. Some of them are worth quite a lot nowdays (My boxed G1 Soundwave with all the cassettes is valued at just over £800 alone)

Also have a complete collection of Transformers Armada figures boxed up now (The complete Armada line is £7000 in vlaue alone)

When I was just a kid . . there is still no TANSFORMERS . . . the only TRANSFORMER that we have in the house is the one which converts electrical output that is attached to an appliance, say: TV etc.

During my time . . . it's: Voltes V, Mazinger Z, Daimos, Grendizer and Barbie Dolls that were - IN ! [addsig]

Oh, and in the East. Transformers on TV was originally called:
FIGHT !!! Super Robot Life Forms

Then it changed to (From Scramble City onwards):

Transformers 2010

Along with the rest of the G1 continuations:

Headmasters
Masterforce
Victory
Zone
Battlestars

That was the end of the Generation 1 line. The Generation 2 show was just re-runs of the early G1 cartoons.

Then Came:

Beast Wars (Beasties in Canada)
Beast Wars 2 (Including a BW Movie)
Beast Wars Neo
Beast Wars Metals
Beast Wars Returns (Beast Machines in the west)

These had references to Generation 1 as the Beast Wars Maximals and Predicons were decended from the Autobots and Decepticons.
Some Generation 1 characters also appeared in the Beast Wars story in full CGI (Optimus Prime, Megatron, Ravage, Starscream)

After these came the Machine Wars line which was never made into a tv series and was short lived.

Transtech never made it into production although prototypes of some figures were made.

Then came:

Car Robots (R.I.D - Robots In Disguise in the West). Completly seperate from the G1, G2 and Beast Wars continuity.

Then more recently came the Unicron Trilogy. Namely:

Micron Legend (Armada in the west)
Superlink (Energon in the west)
Galaxy Force (Cybertron in the west)

In Japan. The original 1986 movie wasn't released until a few years later and wasn't considered as part of their continuity as Scramble City filled the gap between Season 2/Fight !!! SRLF and Season 3/TF 2010

And now in 2008 comes Transformers Hero's. Made back in the USA along with Cartoon Network

@staz - You very well know your ROBOTS mate Here at my end, a Robot-film was made in the early 90's . . . called: ROBOrats (which stars funny man-Joey de Leon) ! It did not earn much in cinemas though

The only ONE which really makes me awe up to this very this day is that of: ROBOcop ! [addsig]

SPOILERS BELOW READ AT OWN RISK IF YOU HAVENT YET SEEN THE MOVIE

Got home from seeing the movie an hour ago and I quite enjoyed it.

Blackout's intro at the beginning was great.

Bumblebee "Lubricating" on the Sector 7 agent was funny.

Frenzy was a great little character. His head changing into a spider bot thingy after his body gets cut up and could still transform into any object (First see him as a portable stereo and then as a mobile phone)
The way Frenzy accidently kills himself and the "oh sh**" comment made me chuckle.

Was a shame Brawl/Devestator and Bonecrusher didn't get much time as they looked good on screen. Saying that. So did Barracade (Where did he go after the Bonecrusher/Prime fight ??? )

Bumblebee having his leg(s) blown off/crushed bought a tear to my eye

Ironhide wanting to kill Mojo made me chuckle.

In the Prime and Megatron fight after Prime saves Sam and they fall from the building. Megatron flicks a human and says "urgh, vermin". Then seeing the human fly across the road and bounce off the back of a car.

Just a few things I can ramember. Going to be seeing it again on Sunday along with the Simpsons movie
