I understand what you're saying private but we shouldn't really have to put up with it; people wouldn't expect to buy a Porsche and then being told you can either use the radio, drive in 6th gear or use your headlights, but you can't use them all at the same time, it's your choice which you'd like to use... Sony Ericsson really need to get their finger out, I didn't pay £300 for a phone for half of the features not to work.
I understand what you're saying though, would really need to be a last resort though and it would certianly put me off buying another Sony Ericsson, teething problems hopefully and at least they're addressing the problems unlike Nokia who just totally ignore it. |

Yeah, those were some of the fixes added in the R1J firmware, as compared to R1A - but the R1L only seems to fix the GPRS/MMS bug that was introduced with R1J.

How about the qualities of camera and mp3 rings?
We hope the qualities return to first release (R1A?) or better. |

So it doesnt seem to me that anyone here can recommend R1L if they currently have R1A loaded. Except that is that the crashes may be better - but not cured according to some posts.
Didn't know Nokia are guilty of not fixing their bugs - is this true?

r1L is a gr8 update from r1a. 1st of all 99% of the crashes and feezes have gone. Your shortcuts no longer vanish.
It does update your camera to 4.4 which in videos is noticable that its slower. However im sure that there will be another main update very soon.
I would update, but if your happy with R1a then dont bother |

Take the point - upgraded 1st phone to R1J - lost GPRS - once bitten...(returned phone to O2 for replacement with R1A again).
Am thinking about R1L. I'm not too fussed about video, pictures I want to remain as good as R1A. Crashes - well not really a problem - twice in a week, yes too often but not the end of the world.
I saw posts on Friday about R1N. Wait and see...

i'm sorry. this may have already been mentioned or answered but i tried the search function and couldn't find a resolve.
can someone answer me this? what firmware i need to allow my vodafone branded k750i to set mp3s (via the drm packager) as ringtones? a rather simple and petty need really but i want this function nonetheless.
i currently have the R1C004 firmware.
thanks. |

I have looked at video files taken with R1A and R1J software.
10 secs of video takes around 90Kb and the quality is so similar that I wouldn't say that R1J is degraded. I would say that video quality is poor but no worse than the MPEG function on my panasonic camcorder. I also checked picture quality and cant see any discernable difference other than the lighting conditions causing over / underexposure. But then all cameras are subject to that when facing into the light. Both R1A and R1J use about 493kb for high-res images.
On that basis I think an upgrade to R1L now that the GPRS is back is on the cards.

I upgraded to R1L and it hasn't frozen on me in standby yet which it was doing all the time with R1A, however it has crashed on me once when I was using Bluetooth to remote control the PC desktop to control a slideshow from the other room.
When I finished and tried to get out of it the please wait screen came up and the progress bar kept scrolling so I just put the phone down thinking it would go back to the main screen soon. When I picked the phone up about an hour later it was still on the screen and I had to remove the battery to reboot it.
This isn't the end of the world cos I hardly ever use remote desktop but dunno if it was just a one off or a bug.
Quick question, slightly off topic. Have people really been paying £300 for this phone? !!!! Why not just get it on a free upgrade from your provider. There's no way I would pay for a phone when O2 will give me a free one every year. |

No, I didnt pay £300 for my phone, I payed £210 unbranded/simfree/O2 hazzlefree/Voda hazzlefree, and they are not really giving you a free phone, you pay a montly contractfee, how much is that ? I dont pay any contractfee to my provider.
