The question should be, who doesn't want to upgrade from their Xperia S .

The question for me isn't IF, but WHEN I will update.
Just need for it to be sold on Amazon US and I will get it and sell my XS, somehow...

it's uncertain if Z1 mini will come to US in time without another 6 months of wait. Z1 is only available with full retail price as of now, after 3 months of its global release. |

According with Digi-Wo the press conference on 14 January is for Z1 mini Chinese version (M51w).And, we could see , in CES, the Z1 mini International version. Is it right?

I heard that there would be no flagship device announced on CES. So just hold your horse and wait a bit longer. The new flagship might be released by Mar to Apr. |

Well, Xperia S took A LOT of time to be released in US too, but it was on Amazon US since April, most likely shipped from France (as all the paper that cane with it were in that language, just like the default language when I first set up the phone).
It doesn't need to be officially in US, just being sold trough Amazon.
Anyway, can't wait for it...

Some things:
1) the booth looks fantastic with that circular thing over it
2) I expect the Z1 international, obviously, and also some surprises
3) the colours flowing in the circular thing are obviously the Xperia's Flow Theme right? but is it me or those colour are slightly different from the FWhite flow wallpaper in the Z1 and thee Zultra?
could this be from the 4.4 update? new wallpapers and a renewed UI incoming? with a new device nobody is expecting?
PS: sorry for the double post but I wanted to leave the other post clean, with only information directly from sony..

...S805 is sampling for OEMs in Q1 with mass shipments at the end of Q2. Part of the reason Sony shifted their flagship to the second half was to ensure they would benefit from the latest chipsets and it's also why Samsung have the Note series in the second half...
Thanks to based zomgbbqftw, though I'm not sure if he refers to the Z1 or its successor.
Edit:
...I don't see it though as H2 has too much competition with Apple, Samsung and Sony all releasing flagship devices.
...Sony are working in a 1/2" sized sensor and maintaining it at 20mp...

@Detox
I think that he said his prediction and that is no inside info. nobody knows much these days. the rumors support 1H flagship refresh.
i have no doubt that the "refresh" will have snapdragon 805. if sony can't make it with 805 for CES then they will make it for MWC. i don't see any point to release a new flagship or "refresh" with the same processor. it never happened in the past and it won't happen now. 805 is predicted for 1H devices and it's successor for 2H, just like S4 pro/600 and 800. it's not likely that qualcomm is going to offer 805 for the entire year. they need 64 bit for 2H. samsung and apple already got to 64 bit.
when you look for answers look at the past.

^Qualcomm will be demoing it on CES so I guess it won't be announced in a device until a month or two after, so I think early Q2 announcement and mid to late Q2 release.

MWC is in the end of February, so it's probably either there or at a special event a bit after (i doubt that). |

Xperia Arc (MSM8255, 1.0 GHz) -> Xperia Arc S (MSM8255T, 1.4 GHz)
Xperia S (MSM8260, 1.5 GHz) -> Xperia SL (MSM8260, 1.7 GHz)
Also, Qualcomm are working on revised Snapdragon 800 chips, 8974-AB (2.4 GHz) and 8974-AC (2.5 GHz). I'm just saying, don't get your hopes up. If it turns out to be right, then even better .
