On one of the early FW releases for the P990i, let you choose if you would want transition effects or not... Turning them off made the phone a lot quicker... Soo... Maybe putting in an option like that would sell a phone for cool effects, and when every friend of the owner have seen these "eyecandies", he can turn them off for more performance...
I know I would:-D

Grow up will you...
P990i: A mistake, a curse and a disgrace So I lowered my expectations and settled for a P1i. I couldn't keep my expectations so low for a long time so now I have an HTC Touch HD |

I havnt read the whole thread yet but im pretty worried that this phone is an OEM made by HTC which SE has slapped their logo and software theme on. I am the owner of an ex-htc p4350 which the store luckily accepted to take back because it had a million flaws. It was slow as HELL, wifi would always disconnect after 10 minutes no matter what network. Apps would crash several times a day.. much like an early p990, and min you that was not their first phone and it had been around for a while once i got it..
Now what makes me think that its an OEM HTC device? Well HTC are very big when it comes to Windows Mobile devices, and the X1 seems to have the proprietary HTC mini-usb port. And ive also heard rumors last year that SE will buy OEM devices from HTC. Can someone please confirm this?
The X1 looks nice on the paper but lets wait for the first review.. now, back to reading this looong thread..

Calm down mate. Last time I checked Nokia were still market leaders. Do you really think the x1 alone will propel SE ahead of them?

the target group of se was alwasy sthe youth, wm feature, good cams et... xperia is more a biz fone and se dotn really has a good position in that area. some will go for it, but the majority will still stick to htc or nokia symbian imo. i doubt, that even a new uiq will turn many nokia users to xperia and the same to wm users...

Actually, I'm of the view the Xperia will appeal mostly to existing WM users. It's something different while still being the WM we all know and love. Don't choke you WM haters - there are people who have positive experiences with WM you know

I don't think they will hate WM in Xperia this time. WM is not like a WinXP or Vista that are already compiled. Most of WindowsMobile's SOURCE CODE is handed to SonyEricsson where it's up to the company to tweak and optimize the OS to suit it's new Interface. Since the interface looks very different from standard WM, it's likely that SonyErricson gives a lot of focus in the UI department.. |

Youre right! And good news is that SonyEricsson is working hard to make WMs interface uncomplicated in Xperia! I wish the Firmware upgrade path goes until Windows Mobile 7 |

agree with you 100% djin. Although, to me its more about the interface than the differences in OS, so if Paris runs the so called 'UIQ4' that we have seen 4 odd press conference images of, and it looks as great to use as these images seem to show, then I'll probably go for that. I was also hoping for more camera functions anyway. |
