Unlikely, but worth checking:

Is there a language option in BIOS? It may have gotten reset to a default, non-english language and the boot disk is getting it's preferred language from that?

Dude, i need a fast/portable external HDD (2.5")....

but i dont want 'another' USB one. i have a Firewire400 port and an expresscard slot, so either i.....

A: get a e-SATA adaptor for the slot, and then get a HDD
or
B: just get a Firewire 2.5" HDD/enclosure and get my own HDD...

any thoughts on this one Cyco?

I'd go for the Firewire enclosure and separate drive. Whenever you start using adapters (even simple ones), there's more things to go wrong! Most good quality caddies are USB and Firewire compatible anyway, of course, in case you ever want to plug to it into a different computer.

Firewire is quick enough for most people anyway.

You can't really go wrong with any caddy as long as it's in the mid-price range. Cooling fans are a good idea and I prefer the ones with tough, semi-flexible plastic cases rather than metal cases. I've had a couple of metal cased ones short-out in the past, although I don't think it's very common.

Same goes for hard drives really, not too cheap and preferably from a good name like seagate.

Michael suggests using a duck-feather quill with arsenic based ink and a bit of pigskin since 'teknologie doth bringeth forth the Devil', apparantly.

In Control Panel, select User Accounts, click on Change an Account, click on your login account, and then on the left click on Manage my network passwords. You should now be presented with a list of accounts, some of which are the accounts listed in the .NET login. And a Remove button.

If not theres a cool guide with pics here http://www.lancelhoff.com/200[....]passport-account-from-windows/
Im not fussed about phones/gadgets no more. If im online im in the Non-Mobile discussion

@nick

If want to get rid of the unread email notification altogether, you can follow the instructions here

PLEASE BE VERY CAREFUL! It is very quick and easy to do but does involve modifying the registry so check and double check that you have navigated to the right keys and entered the correct values before saving.

@All

Yesterday I made a post regarding a certain PC application that, unfortunately, may have caused damage to a members PC. I would like to assure everyone that this was in no way intentional and to remind you of a few general points:

- Always check downloaded executable files for viruses. Most antivirus apps allow you to right-click on the downloaded file and select 'scan this file for viruses' or similar. Even if I or somebody else gives you a direct link to the file, scan it just in case.

- From now onwards, I will only give direct links to known safe versions of files but even so, virus scan them as suggested above. If for any reason you need to obtain them from a different site then please be very careful. Wherever possible, use well known sites such as majorgeeks or download.com as these are usually much safer. Beware of any sites that advertise warez, pornography and such like.

- Some of the applications I suggest on here are very powerful and are designed to be used by professionals. If you're not sure how to use it, shut it down immediately and check the documentation or ask for help here.

- Due to their nature, some of these applications could potentially be used for illegal or malicious purposes. I would like to reassure everyone that I do not condone such uses and that I only suggest these applications on Esato for problem solving purposes. I will never link to or suggest using illegal software nor will I give advice on reverse engineering, hacking, DDOS, virus writing / distribution etc.

Right! Thanks everyone, on with the show
