Picture this :
Pitch darkness on a single lane country road. There are camels, cows, motorbikes, people, tractors and lorries using this road. All vehicles turn on their high beam, and flash at the oncoming person. Its a game of chicken, whoever is biggest wins... this goes on for hours... The lorries are HUGE and they dont move for no one... They are king. So, you get to have fun guessing what kind of vehicle is coming head on towards you, all they while being blinded by its light. Oh, the road is filled with potholes and on the sides there are rocks and dirt as well as plantation fields.
Have you been in a 4wd that overtakes seven big ass lorries in one go? All the while, an impatient bus driver does the same? Well, I have. You get to play hide and seek with oncoming traffic.... Cool
Immagine a road like Genting Highlands... only a little smaller... would you dare overtake on a blind corner? There could be a bus which is pulling an overtaking move heading towards you...
Have you seen busses that are speeding on the wrong side of the road heading at breakneck speed towards you because he is trying to overtake a lorry?
Have you driven through rush hour traffic on the opposite side of the road?
There is a traffic jam at a T-junction. All the cars are heading right. You go on the right most lane and cut them of because you want to go left.
Have you almost been nearly crushed by a lorry or bus because the driver was too busy overtaking someone else?
Busses and lorries outside your car is about one inch away. Thats how close they drive.
Two lane roads become four.
A cow/elephant/camel becomes a road hog.
Blasting the horn doesn't mean you're angry, it means "Get the fcuk out of my way biach, because here I come, like it or not!" I think the ussage of the horn there is like 3 beeps every 10 seconds ;eyes:
Have any of you played the game "Burnout 3" for the PS2? Well, its like that. There are no rules, just do what you want. Our driver said to drive in India, you need three things, good brakes, a good horn and good luck !!
Its difficult to explain how they drive, you gotta see it to belive it ! All I can say is they are damn skillfull. Oh, and I"ve been on the road there for MORE than 1000km and NOT ONCE did I see a traffic jam. NOT ONCE !! The traffic is always moving !! Always. That more than explains their skills compared to the morons on the roads here in Malaysia.
All in all, its been one hell of an experience, I loved it. It was waaaaaaaaay better than USA, Australia, Switzerland, London, Paris, Canada or any of the other countries I've been to ! You get to see the rich, the poor, the wildlife, the pollution, the huge open fields, the different types of food, the colourful clothes, the way people value life, the way life is lived, traditions, Hindu + Muslim + Budhist + Persian architecture, the beautiful night skies... Oh and the engineering of ancient buildings are superb ! They even thought about air conditioning, fountains, and water systems hundreds and hundreds of years ago. If you see the way they got this to work using manual labour, you'd be amazed.... Pure genius !
The Taj Mahal was astounding !! Words can't describe it. You have to be there to experience it. When you walk closer to it, it looks as if its getting smaller and when you walk away, it gets bigger. the whole bloody scene ( the garden and the Taj itself) looks like a painting !! It looks soo surreal !!
I have many pics but i got to sort them out. I'll post it here when I'm done Oh, I've bought a tabla and some books on it too. Gonna start learning that soon
