For the real dark pics I used the add-on flash MXE-60 and covering the flash with my hand. By this way you force the camera to use ISO-200 hence getting very noice free pics without using the nightmode and in this way reducing the risk of blurring your pics.

I have noticed no quality loss in still images. They seem just as sharp as before and the file sizes remain around the 400kb mark.
The video however has changed dramatically from being almost perfect quality to just slightly better quality than the S700i.
