SonyAlpharumors is also as excited as us about Honami !!! (XR5)
http://www.sonyalpharumors.co[....]wly-announced-samsung-s4-zoom/
Sony will soon announce their first smartphone with high quality and large sensor. And it will have to compete against the just announced Samsung S4 zoom. That hybrid camera and phone features a 1:2.3 inch sensor (same size as most compact cameras) and a 10x zoom. That marks the end of the compact camera business. The Samsung S4 zoom and the new Sony Cybershot Mobile will still be very expensive. But the price will go down in future with every new release. In 2-3 years form now almost nobody will buy a “pure” compact camera anymore. |

I hope that 2-3 years of technological advancements in Smartphone imaging will give us camera performance and quality similar or better than "pure-compacts" like Nikon A or RX1 or I'll call that claim a bold yet wishful dream

Will it be as thick as galaxy zoom with 10x zoom feature?

20 Megapixel?!? Just when will Sony learn that more is not necessarily better? At least improve other things to do with the phone camera such as low ISO for better low light pictures etc...

I thought it was discussed somewhere in this thread that the price would go skyhigh due to the technologies integrated into Honami. afterall this is Sony's pride and Glory product for the purpose of "Showing off" their capabilities in electronics. why would anyone expect Honami to be a mainstream device?

at the same time in marketing perspective you cant introduce a phone that will be too expensive for people to buy. if they do intend to do that then they cant expect too many sales.
most people who buys sony are usually a bit above average people. technically the brand "sony" in peoples head are "expensive products" since like ever ever.
well either way, i hope the best for sony.. if its that good looking i might have to sell my Z lol. Got to buy PS4 too >

Don't worry, it won't be priced astronomically high as Sony has plans to sell 10 million honami in 6 months

Wait Ramu, there is something wrong.
If the sensor is 2/3", so 58,080,000 micron, then 1.75 micron per pixel means 33MP, not 20MP.
I know that some of the pixels will be used for better pic quality, but never saw that for 40% of the pixels!
So something is wrong between the 3 claims: sensor size, pixel size and pixel number...
Or, if you are sure, sure, it may be an extremely good news: a hidden WOW function... Pixel binning!
33MP is just above 32MP which is 4x8MP + 1MP for picture quality.
And that means you can take shots of 8MP, with combined pixel size of 7 micron!
So extremely powerful in low light, all the more if the tech is new and improved!
You also get the best of both worlds if the sensor allows you to go up to 20MP for people who want to print posters when there is plenty of light.
Does anyone else see the contradiction in current rumors, came up with different results or see another explanation?
Please share!
