Any reason why Sony opted for this type of 3.5mm jack vs a covered one on the other waterproof xperias? |

Actually earphone jacks do not need to be with a flap for the phone to be waterproof. There is no power drain if you short circuit the channels to ground. Moreover earphones have already quite low resistance. The worst that can happen is probably getting a slightly poorer and/or less powerful audio signal to the earphones when a wet jack is plugged. |

@nightwing - What name? i1 is only the internal name! Not the final market name!!! XR100!
@ascariss - cause it's better w/o and dont disturb anymore open/close cover...
Togari is real flat but huge... Again the volumerocker is so close to the powerbutton. Why no gap between?

@aamwng
I believe that is the xperia tablet Z
@semo, @king-james
Well my question is why cover it up in some models and then leave it exposed in this new one. I know it looks better not covered up and more versatile, but why didn't Sony do this on the other xperias is my question.

Cause SONY didn't know that it can works w/o also perhaps?!
Or because of the design. All must look same good...
Or because SONY found a new solution...

Someone at XB said it was for the stylus. Makes sense, if it comes with one.
I'd love a waterproof, open, headphone jack. But I'd like it on top (or bottom). |

The size and location make no sense for a stylus. How do you get it out? Unless it is either sticking out all the time or you need to push in to get it spring out, that is not a stylus hole. Looka like headphone to me |

So... Are we going to see waterproof flap-less headphone jack on honami and togari? |

Guys stop confusing and asking the same question again and again.
Both Togari and Honami will be water proof and flap less headphone jacks.
glib at xda confirmed that so did mr. unknown dude pointed out earlier.

So amazed that Sony would actually show Z Ultra in an invitation to the event. I wonder if this is a unique occurance, or a sign of how they might do this in the future. I'm guessing it's unique just because they want to draw a lot of attention to a Note 3 competitor.
That damned phone does look absolutely amazing. If it weren't for the amazing camera on Honami, I'd probably end up getting the phablet. |

Yes the Z Ultra is water resistant, with an open flap.
Honami also has the same feature. Flapless water resistance

Seems no one knows Togari will be named XL?
It will be first released in mid July in China. |
