After 10 yrs of using cell phones, I have never ONCE needed a warranty claim on any of my phones.
The only time I have needed a repair, was after my GF slammed my Blokia 2110i in the boot sill of my car.
So check the worry in my eyes about loosing my warrant 
How much can a repair cost anyway? That is if it is even covered by a warranty...

LOL@Tahir: Don't think MTN/Cell C will turn me away if I want to sign up with my old Voda number. I think I absolutely love SE, the only other brand I might go for a Blokia...but with loads of hesitation.

In the US you can have your landline number as your mobile number and vice versa...that's the magic of deregulation. In many ways Telkom is protected by stupid laws that are in actual fact detrimental to the growth of our economy. That's just my two cents.

Ppl should just say mo to branded phones. The network, or manufacturer that gives unbranded phones will be the market leader in the future.

BRIX would u rather go to mtn just because of branding u hevent even used!!!!!????.......and pay more on a network with signal and network problems as bad as mtn??? mtn is also getting sued for 70 mill for licencing fees.... they are also never gona keep up with voda....
just because you want a special phone!! some people...
good luck it will be nice to read your whining post about mtn in the future..

@786KBR: I'm a former MTN subscriber...never had problems with my signal, perhaps only when I was driving through a mountain pass. If I choose to change it won't be necessarily be back to Y'ello...it all depends which network gives me the best deal...that's freedom of choice. People like Tahir puts potential subscribers off 3G because he rambles as if Vodafone Live is the be all and end all of mobile telecoms. He also conveniently forgets to mention that some features like My Friends are removed.

As regards the number porting issue...
I can only speak of my experiences of number porting in the UK, thus have no idea if it will be similar or not with the SA networks, but I don't see why it should be different.
In total, I have have had EIGHT different numbers ported for either friends and/or family, from most of the different UK networks.
Firstly, whether you are on PAYG or contract(once the minimum year contract is up), you have the right to request and receive your PAC number (Porting Authorisation Code). They can only refuse if there is any breach of contract issues or money owing etc., & some request that you request only after a month since your first PAYG call, eg. Tesco or 02. I have ported two contract numbers and 6 PAYG.
Some of the UK networks give it to you within 48 hours, but MOST eg. Virgin, Orange, Vodafone etc. can usually give it to you straight away.
THERE IS NO CHARGE FOR THIS!!!(Well, in the UK anyway..)
The PAC number is made up of 3 letters followed by 6 digits.
You then give this to your new network and the transfer then takes between 5 to 10 working days to do, depending on network. If you are on PAYG, you need to ensure that your old simcard's credit is used up before the date of transfer, or you'll lose any credit that was on it...credit cannot be ported!
I know some of these facts are not news to some of you, but hope it explains things re how it is done, even if it is from a UK networks perspective... |

I used to know someone like tahir once. A mr know it all. No offence mate, but you need to get a life. You are so drawn up in vodacom that you just dont see anything else. Now please, the info you give us on here are fine, but just stop living vodafone, we are all getting sick and tired of it.
Now thats my 2 cents worth.

Forgot to mention:
when you receive your PAC number, it is valid for 30 days. Should you not give the PAC number to any other network within this time, it will expire. You would thus remain on the network you were trying to leave...your simcard will just carry on working on that network as normal. (unless you have terminated your contract.) You would then have to contact your network again and receive a new PAC number. There is still no charge.
Again, this pertains to UK network procedures.
It really IS that easy to port numbers!

@Brix you said in your previous post that you will go to a network for 3g that gives you the best deal and you where also complaining about signal.Vodacom 3G coverage will be beter than anyone because we have a 6 month lead.As always Vodacom always lead
