Apple appears to be “overclocking” the iPhone 3G CPU to match iPod touch second-generation devices in iPhone OS 4.0. Apple historically downclocks CPUs and GPUs to preserve battery life, dating back to the original MacBook Pro. In fact, overclocking the iPhone 3G to iPod touch second-generation speeds still would not exceed the maximum speed rated by Samsung for the iPhone 3G’s CPU.overclock iphone 3g. |

That end up looking like this? Do you mean aluminum like on the first iPhone? Done properly so that it doesn't look like the picture above after 5 mins of use

That's chrome not alluminium. Although I have always had a case on my iPod it looks like that photo too, Apple do it to separate it from the iPhone. Making a phone with that backing would be stupid

On the photoshop of the iPhone 5? As long as it doesn't stratch like the iPod. I really don't understand why the don't use a more robust material. It's either covered in scratches or in a case, so doesn't even look good tbh

Yeah but that's not what the iPhone will look like, that's an iPod Touch 4th Gen with a bigger screen. It's one of those bad photoshop pictures that you see that end up nothing like the product.
Metal back and bigger screen are the expected changes:

lol, fortunately I've never used a case and I hardly think I'll notice what amounts to the thickness of two hairs.
seems they had good reason to do this so I wouldn't say "they still got it wrong"

I know its not a big deal but you'd expect identical phone models to be identical in every way and it took them long enough to get this right in the first place

I'll make a similar comparison when my white arrives. I'll also try the free bumper that Apple sent me that I have never used and see if that still fits as its a snug fit on the black (I just tried it again).
If that still fits the white then I'd question the case they tried.
This article does just say "creates the potential for a consumer issue" but I think its a storm in a teacup

I think the black version always looked a lot better than the white, can't see the appeal of the white version.

White is better for one big reason that its not a finger print magnet like the black version,finger prints just never show up at all and that is a big plus for any white phone saves on the constant wiping on the shirt every time you use it

I have to say that the oleophobic qualities of the black iphone 4, and also the ipad 2, are very good.
I have yet to clean the ipad 2 screen whereas I cleaned the original every few days, and I rarely wipe the iphone 4
Apple are certainly doing a good job in this department
