just go to try out the k850 and it still has the oil-paint effect of the k800:S..........................
Horrible
Nah, your just not viewing the photos correctly. Just shrink them and they'll be perfect. If that fails, photoshop them:-)
Ye, but at 100% there's so much oil paint it looks like a painting.
My k750 had none of this
look at this :S

note that K850 hasn't IS-equipped lens, so Stabilizer mode simply increases ISO(faster shutter speed) to reduce motion blur caused by a shaky hand or movable object, so quality may decrease(instead of increase)
Are you sure? I've not done much experimentation with the K850i yet but the K800/K810 will crop the image when the stabiliser is on, suggesting it's using the outer pixels as a buffer for movement. I certainly didn't notice significant increases in noise, but you do need to hold the camera as steady as you can because you do introduce a forced shutter lag!

have you seen the link i provided? Image stabilization on Wikipedia :
"...In photography, image stabilization can often permit the use of shutter speeds 3-4 stops slower (exposures 8-16 times longer), although even slower effective speeds have been reported. The rule of thumb to determine the slowest shutter speed possible for hand-holding without noticeable blur due to camera shake is to take the reciprocal of the effective focal length of the lens. For example, at a focal length of 125mm, vibration or camera shake would affect sharpness if the shutter speed was slower than 1/125 second. As a result of the 3-4 stops slower shutter speeds allowed by IS, an image taken at 1/125 second speed with an ordinary lens could be taken at 1/15 or 1/8 second with an IS-equipped lens and produce almost the same quality. The sharpness obtainable at a given speed can increase dramatically. When calculating the effective focal length, it is important to take into account the image format a camera uses. For example, many digital SLR cameras use an APS-C image sensor that multiplies the effective focal length of the lens by 1.5 or 1.6, depending on the camera. This value is usually referred to as the field of view crop factor or simply crop factor...."
obviously that is not the case with K850
but "cropping-buffering" is a technique anyway:
"...Many Non-linear editing systems use stabilization filters that can correct a non-stabilized image by tracking the movement of pixels in the image and correcting the image by moving the frame. The process is similar to Digital image stabilization but since there is no "larger" image to work with the filter either crops the image down to hide the motion of the frame or attempts to recreate the lost image at the edge through extrapolation...."
i don't know K850 will crop the image or not, but if not, surely it increases ISO. you can read the manual, it should be mentioned there.

Hi tnkgrl,
Welcome to Esato. I've been reading your blog ever since I hit it from Google, search for i-mobile 902.

tnkgrl, great images and a cool site you have there.
I've downloaded your iSync plug in (thanks for that) to give it a try - the Feiser one I bought fails to sync my calendar claiming I have too many events !!

The manual with the K850i doesn't say anything about anything (try finding out more about how the Bluetooth Internet sharing works, or the USB modem, and so on).
The K800i crops the image, so it must be doing the former rather than the latter for image stabilisation. Increasing the ISO would reduce light, and images are not darker. I am sure the K850i does the same, but I am yet to do any proper comparison tests.
