Im sure it must be in the users manual but im at work and someone just came up with this question and its now bugging the hell out of me !!! So what is it ?

its for an external ariel, i.e if you had a car kit installed in your car that had an ariel on the roof

this is true but dont think much damage, if any can be caused. some manufacturers have rubber plugs in them

I have had 3 ericsson/sony ericsson fones over the last 3 years and non of them have had dust covers!

I think the rubber plug would have been a good idea.

Its hard enough to keep track of a small stylus, imagine trying to find a rubber dust plug if that fell on to the floor!

yeah thats true, i have had phones in the past and the rubber plug has fallen out and disappeared into the unknown!!

ericsson as always is a great phone, it does not need protection, if u would realize, shitty phones such as the nokia 6110 if u remember had a cover for that thing... i always have used ericsson, and none of the ericssons had the cover... QUALITY.. its just another way to say"so what if dust goes in? it will still work, its an ericsson"
