Yup, Sony is smoking some good weed if they think they can beat the beast with their childish rubber black rectangles.

This baby or the SGS4 will be my new toy.

Loving it
skblakee, same here

@ being smoked by Sonys, its a damn shame Sony still cant manage to make a consistently fast and fluid UI, thats why they're being thrashed by even Huawei and ZTE in the top OEMs list.

I seen a 20 minute video on this the other day and all the cool new features on it were really cool. And it shows that Samsung is innovating and coming up with their own ideas despite what crApple think. It is a little bit too big though as the GS3 was big enough. Looking back I actually think the GS2 was about the right size in the hand. Also another good thing is this has no pentile display.

Bonovox, totally agree with you. The apps on the Note II are really nice and innovative including the new photo gallery. I also agree the SGS III should have been the same size or closer to the SGS II but the SGS III is still nice. Had another play with one today, really smooth and nice. JB should be even nicer on it.

Guys this is my first image upload on here but look what popped in today. Not one but two of these class ten babies. One for a co-worker of mine. I am now ready to stop purchasing items for my SGS II and move to the Note in the coming months. Mine will move on into the new Note. Most likely the holiday season coming up.

Hope the image comes out.

59.46gb left and waiting for the new Note after a quick formatting.

I just saw the GALAXY Note10.1 advert, and i just thought to myself how incredible it would be to own that and the GALAXY Note II

Samsung must be the most innovative Android OEM around, they so far are the only ones who have managed to make the stylus "cool" again and think of new ways of multitasking and doing other things on your Android.

Ive also been watching a couple of the Note II previews, and they seem to be paying a lot of attention on the user experience, yet without making the phone slow or choppy, the Note II is really looking like the perfect blend of Multimedia and Enterprise, excellent job by Samsung.

Would've been amazing if SIII was the same size as SII, BUT i must say, the SIII feels better in hand thanks to the rounded edges.

Absolutely! That's one of the things I really like about the new Samsung and HTC designs ( and 2011 Xperias of course ) - their rounded shape and lack of sharp edges. The phone feels so natural and fits so comfortably in the hand. Furtermore, this phone is just beautiful - I like it even more than the original SGS3, even though the Note 2 is too big for me. I'm just saying.

Yes the stylus seems sexy again now with the Note II. I am definitely for it. That is a niche which Sammy has created. I expect to see sales above 10 million.

It looks so yummy I don't think I'm gonna be able to resist getting one.Hurry up and bring it to South Africa. Will purchase in December if it here.My birthday present for myself.

The Galaxy S3 was $549.99 on ATT with no commitment and $199 with upgrade. The Galaxy Note was $649.99 off contract and $299 with upgrade when it came out on AT&T in February this year.

I am sure it will be $299 and $649 when I comes out on AT&T

Got mine today and this thing is amazing By far the best phone I've ever had. Coming from the original Note I can say this one is much faster and more fluid throughout the whole UI, the screen is better, it feels better in the hand and better in the pocket. The new S-Pen is better with some great new functions All in all a very good upgrade which to my eyes looks stunning

Nice but big!!

Posted by wd40
A picture of my phone compared to two BlackBerries below.

I noticed something which annoyed me, front camera light is always on when the screen is locked, it is very faint so you will need to be in a dark place to see it, do you have the same thing?

Posted by Tsepz_GP
OMG, the screen looks incredible
Congrats guys! Im jealous.

Checkout GSMArena's battery test, 73hours!!! :
http://blog.gsmarena.com/sams[....]complete-here-are-the-results/

I think i want the GNote II again

Samsungs incredibly smooth UI with Jelly Bean, features, hardware (2GB RAM, 1.6GHz Exynos Quad, 5.5inch display, S Pen etc...) and now the incredible battery life, Samsung continue to make the best allround Androids.

Screw what i said about wanting a One X+ i still want a GNote II if i upgrade this year.

I found the reason, this is for the "Quick glance" feature, disable the feature and the light switches off

Thanks Tsepz_GP, you should buy one as soon as it hits the market .

So far this is the only phone that I have ever waited for, I bought it the second day of release, I was busy on day one

It's nice but still bit too big to carry around on the streets especially. Would be the type of phone I'd use at home but not outside. Also I do wish Samsung would make the design a bit more different from GS3 and other models. Apart from size it's hard to tell them apart and their designs are dull. The pop up window is innovative and cool but not practical. Are you really going to type something on screen and watch a movie?? I tried it with GS3 and found it annoying kind of just in the way distracting. A silly gimmick imo but still would love to see that sharper screen as it's non pentile this time But when I seen a video it has some innovative functions and yes Samsung continue to get better and better much to the annoyance of Apple. And the ideas they have in this device are their own. Nobody seems to beat them now. For me a 4.5 to 4.8 inch is as far as I'd go not 5.5 inch

73 hours of endurance on a 5.5" screen is truly impressive! Really an amazing phone from samsung! But i doubt I could live with its size! It seems to be too big for being carried around on a regular basis considering s3 was hard for me to use. How do you guys find it in terms of size? I think this looks much more balanced than s3..

Posted by false_morel
The Note II is a winner. Heck I meant a killer..

I'd really like to get one! Problem is having this with a 920 and a tablet is too much!
I'll have to pick between the S-Pen + battery life and PureView + WP8.

Maybe next year we'll have them all together in one device.. I can dream, can't I..

Congrats guys.I should be getting my one sometime next week.Just waiting for contract packages to become available for this phone. (new deals come out the 7th of every month).Once I get those details I shall be joining you.Woohoo!

Posted by Bonovox
I do like how Samsung has reinvented the stylus with this S Pen

Posted by djin
Note 2 is priced very well too(600$!)... So many things they have brought in with note 2, that i can finally say samsung has truly differentiated and innovated itself here(something which I could not say for s3)! I will go have a look at it, I am not sure if I should get it due to the size, but it has one feature that shifts the keyboard, etc to one side. Maybe that will help with single hand usage? Also I wonder how it fits in formals, because it may not even fit, or stretch the pocket completely which would look bad. This seems to be the hardest year for me to decide on a new phone .

Posted by rikken
djin, I find the size to be no problem. A couple of days and your're used to it. It fits easily in my medium sized pockets
And the battery guys is truly impressive, 8.5 hours since I took it off charging and still 80 % left, taken a few pictures, a few short slow motion videos(cool function), a few txts and a few short calls and some browsing
GPS on, WIFI on, 3G on, Push e-mail and screen 100% brightness

180grams though

180 g is no problem.I even go for a run with the Note 2 in my pocket and I barely notice it

I am going to get mine closer to December. I just wanted to sell my sgs2 now and get more than I would have later on.
I love the note.

Nokia Lumia920 is even worse, sitting at 185g despite having less components.

Yeah its not a light but its IRDA (infrared to detect proximity to the screen). Good find.
Personally I feel a) nobody requires a tablet using this thing, and b) Looks ugly to me (my personal opinion, will not sway yours & thats OK), finally c) I prefer 4.7" LG Optimus G's screen and their implementation of dual application use simultaneously with opacity levels - this way you have the FULL screen not 1/2 of a 5.5" screen (2.75" screen).

If Samsung is not careful ... I think this Note II is just so good it'll Eliminate sales of the Galaxy Tab series ... Apple was doing Samsung a favor really ... Samsung should make only 1 Galaxy Tab Tablet at 7/10" display size and fully promote the Note II.

Those that own the Note II can you please comment fully on the Educational Software please - and how it ties into Google's recent efforts to derail Apple's iTunes U please?! To me iTunes U is VERY VERY useful and powerful yet with my recent interest and eyes being opened to Android I'll need a replacement for this FREE educational service of information.

Posted by wd40
Hardened:

Ok, so no one buys ipods now? some people will have iphone(s), ipod(s) and ipad(s).

People will still buy Galaxy Tabs or Galaxy Notes or both.

as for educational software I did not explorer that side of the Note yet.

Posted by skblakee
The G Note won't be a threat to individuals who want a pure tablet experience and would look at the Galaxy tabs. It is just for a unique set of persons who want a unique experience between a regular cellphone and a tablet like experience.
Samsung seems to have to done a really great job with the software side of the Note II. That has been the weakest side of their offerings. Plus with JB 4.1 things seem to going really well with android. IOS might be falling behind.

Ordered.Should be getting mine Wed/Thurs.

Lucky you Hobbs.

Posted by Tsepz_GP
Hobbs you lucky thing!
Look forward to reading your experience with it. Im going all the way lol, will get a GS4 in June next year.

I did 1 year with the S2.I think thats pretty darn good. The amount of tinkling of done with this phone is like I've had it for 2 years. My Xperia X10 had it lucky.
Will have extremely fond memories of the S2.

Tsepz
For the Note 2 I'm getting it through Vodacom on a Business Call (R185) (SIM going to live in my cupboard) and am not doing phone finance but laying out R4125 upfront when I get the phone.

Too big seen one today just don't like it

Posted by rikken
The size is perfect, great for browsing, pictures, movies, youtube and playing around with the S-Pen

It's impressive what Samsung has created with this one

Bono, I know you desperately want one

@rikken

Can you help me finding the Birthday field in contacts !?

ironically, I wonder if they forgot this field after all these massive inventions in Note 2 ! They even had put barometer inside it

Posted by rikken
Enter the contact-menu-edit-add anther field-events- choose the event you want to add

Posted by Bonovox
No I don't it's too big. Looks nice and has great features but no. I remember having the GS3 thinking that was big enough and I felt carrying such an expensive huge peice of equipment around made me edgy. I prefer my Nokia Lumia thanks

I'm looking forward to using Split Screen Multitasking (Multi Window) that comes with the new firmware update.Watched some YT video's and its looks pretty useful and something I think I'll use quite a lot. Not all apps are supported at present but hopefully that will change in the future.
