My New Game taken with Samsung Wave... flash went off.

So far the Samsung S8500 has served its purpose well.

Finally got around to putting the BBQ together.

Hmmm, seems better than the Galaxy this camera

Posted by JohnM
It's definitely got the edge on the galaxy s

Posted by Bonovox
Plus the flash & thinking back of when I had the Samsung Jet that phone had the brightest LED flash I ever seen. It lit up over ten feet away almost as good as Xenon. Honest. What's the LED like?

Posted by 2slow
@Bonovox the flash is super bright, over powering at times to be honest. But the pictures are grainy as hell. This example was taken in a room pitch black and the shows you the flash and the distance about 10 to 12 feet away. Very very noisy pic...

Is there an option called "ISO" in the camera settings? It's noisy, I was expecting it to be ISO 400 or above but it's just 250. Remember that all phones, and compact cameras will take noisy photos indoors Good news is that it's good detail in sunny conditions.

1st photo: ISO 80
2nd photo: ISO 50
3rd photo: ISO 250

Good point mriley, I left it auto and did not change iso. Will try again with higher ISO

Posted by mriley
So the camera does have an ISO option? That's quite rare in phones Don't try higher ISO, set a lower ISO - I advice 100, but the lower the better. Higher ISO = more noise, Lower ISO = less noise. Does it have shutter speed settings you can change in the menu? Can you change the scene? If you can, try 'night' or the one for low light, it might call it twilight setting.

Not outdoor pictures but indoor with decent sunlight in a Mall. Still there could be improvement in the slight fade in colour, still not top notch.

I have ISO settings in my Galaxy & most Samsung phones have that

Posted by mriley
pretty good quality when there's enough light. Link to full size would be nice.

Posted by Bonovox
Yes it's better than the Galaxy for quality I remember when I had my Samsung Jet the LED was the brightest I ever seen. Is the LED on the Wave good?

Which Samsung was that taken on? Wow I want that pic for my Full HD monitor

Posted by mriley
It was taken with the Samsung Pixon 12
Here it is - photo

Shame that was discontinued. Has anyone noticed that lately the mega pixel race in camera phones has slowed? No 12 megs popping up anymore from LG or Samsung & so far just one from

Posted by Marly
It's not really necessarry, to have a 12 MP cam in a phone, though my Satio does take good pics.
The new Nokia N8-00 will have a 12MP cam.

Posted by Bonovox
LG never made one yet. Yes Satio is still very good. I know 12 megs is pointless I am happy as far as 8 in a mobile even 5.

Posted by JohnM
5mp seems to be ample on a phone. As long as the optics are good and a decent size sensor, should give good results.

Posted by mriley
Sometimes 5 mp can beat 8 mp in terms of detail Ironic but true

yea my omnia rocks

I'm sure your Omnia won't rock without you behind it! Nice capture! Bokeh looks good too considering this is from a phone camera.

Yes it was nothing less than a compliment. I mean, what's the use of a good camera without a good photographer behind it?

I really wanted to buy the Omnia HD (i8910) when it came out because of the camera quality, but I was turned off by the reviews about the video recording. Anyway, the new models (wave and galaxy S) looks very promising.

Samsung Champ (GT-C3300K)

VGA, Auto mode

1.3MP, Night mode

yeah! I know that my pics posted here are from crap phones. but i'm just giving an idea on how good (or bad) the camera quality of a low end samsung.

Surprisingly good pictures from the Wave GT-S5253

Posted by aldrinus
indeed. but only under ample light conditions and of course, a steady hand.

here's another shot taken indoors with the sun bursting outdoors:

Original

the camera is really limited. no AF, no LED or flash or whatever... and its 3.2mp!
but other than that, i find the phone really wonderful.
