does anybody know where i can find a free text to speech program? Im tryng to find one but all the ones i've seen, have to be bought through credit cards and im too young 2 have one!

Posted by Tsepz_GP
Bickit nice thread man im realy intrested in Nokia E-series phones, especialy E61

This message was posted from a W900i

i love the E61, but it was like 30£ more, so i left it. But what are the main differences between E61 and E62?

Posted by Tsepz_GP
Same lol,the difference between the E61 and E62 is that the E61 is a 3G(UMTS) and EDGE phone so its Quad Band where as the E62 is just a EDGE phone, so the E61 is the better one

My e50 joy went wrong after 3-4 weeks usage. I do loved it batt and features, i would give a try for e60, thats an amazing fone.

So i wasnt missin much on the e61 then. Dude, i took one look @ the E50 and i said no way! Try the E60, its what im using! The internet call feature is excellent for calling abroad! U spend 1/2 what the operator charges you. Or try E70. Excellent texting machine!

Posted by BobaFett
I have bit doubts cos the keypad. It feels and looks cheap imo, donnow why didnt is deserve the e50 alu covers

Posted by bickit
Really? The one i tested was ok....maybe coz it was new out of the box. The design of the E50 bothers me! It looks like some sort mechanical kitchen knife or something! The way the top is large then it shrinks abit lower. Besides, why buy E50 when a when a 6680 is almost the same if not better?

Posted by BobaFett
U cant compare 6680 and e50, both are symbians, but for different tastes

This message was posted from a 6233

Posted by bickit
actually, u can compare, but its beneath their skins where it matters. A 6680 runs on symbian 8.0a fp2, while an E50 runs on symbian 9.1 fp1. The E50 is slighty more powerful because 9.1 allows more flexibility with apps and memory and the rotation of the screen. Not much else, as they both run on the same processor. By the way, is there going to be a new E-series anytime soon?

Posted by BobaFett
I didnt hear yet about new models

hmmm. By the way, is it normal for an E60 to take Really long to start up? I havnt put many apps and my card only has music. Im just wonderin if its a problem....

Posted by shaliron
Yeah it's fine. Smartphones tend to have longer startup times.

Posted by BobaFett
All symbians have a longer startup, but thats normal, just as at the pc

good! I was getting worried for no reason. Another question, if E60, E70s use 16 million colour displays, does that make their screens plasma or high definition display units?

Posted by BobaFett
Good question. Imo no other brand managed so bright and sharp display yet. Does it drain faster the batt?

This message was posted from a 6233

Posted by bickit
Actually, the battery goes for 4 days of light usage and 2 for intensive use. Even when the screen is at its dimmest setting, it still defeats All the makes! And the picture rendering is too perfect which lives me wonderin, is it plasma or h.d lcd?

Posted by BobaFett
E61 should have deserve that screen, was really disappointed with the chosen one

This message was posted from a 6233

Posted by bickit
i guess nokia really wanted to make a 'budget priced business phone'. Would have been much more succesful with a 16m colour display; it would have made working with the camera more pleasing. Did you ever get the feeling that they used the same camera with 3230? I sure did!

Posted by BobaFett
With what fone?

This message was posted from a 6233

Posted by bickit
sorry! I meant E50! Do u know, i wanted that phone then it was a tad over me budget. S'not bad, though it looks alot like a rim blackberry! Even the height and thickness is similar, which left me wondering.... Its only the software thats different. Vrai ou faux?

Posted by BobaFett
I loved its keypad, the screen was great, but bit hard to read the text

This message was posted from a R520m

Posted by bickit
True, but i dont understand why. If an E60s resolution is higher, why is it so easy 2 read text on it? There's no font size option that changes the size. Or is there?

Posted by BobaFett
There is no option to set text size

@bickit; couldn't you bookmark the last page that you read in the Nokia browser for the new S60 thread like everyone else. Then goto the most recent page for updates? Unless you have the E50 - no WiFi or Access Points to connect to - or - Specific mention of apps, firmware, tweaks, etc that are akin to specifically the E-Series devices then I see no point to this thread. Of course others do so I guess it serves its purpose, however eventually it'll get long as well so data charges will climb along with it.

Depending on what you have setup to startup when you boot your S60 device (3Rd Ed); then bootup times can get as low as 40seconds or less. I'm seeing some tweaked Smartphones (WM5 version) getting about 26seconds without major registry hacks just disabling startup animations for some units. I'd like to pose a question if this can be done on any E-series device?

Currently the most stable S60 3Rd Edition device is STILL the E-61/62!

Posted by bickit
yes, U c no point. Other people do.

Posted by BobaFett
how is your stand by time? 1500mah batt is a really good decision imo

Posted by bickit
wow! 1500amh!!:-) is that battery available in africa? My standby time would improve by double! I was going 2 buy a second battery, but if i find 1 of that capacity, it would be gr8! Is it a 3rd party or nokia battery

Posted by BobaFett
sorry, thought u got e61, it comes with 1500 mah...

Posted by bickit
nuts! Ok, can 3250s 1100mah fit in an E60?

Posted by BobaFett
no, cos the 3250 batt fits 6280,6288,6233 for example

Posted by bickit
is there a more powerful battery than can fit my cell phone? I heard that fake batteries tend to explode in the phone, i wouldnt want that 2 happen 2 my phone!

Posted by BobaFett
i take only generic batts, third party ones are trusteable imo. the e50 had a great batt life, donnow, if nokia managed that great standby and talktim with e60 as well ( both devices have the same batt )

Posted by bickit
maybe for u. The 3rd party batts over here are called flyng horse and sunstar! Unless u guys knw these brands, i thnk i'll stick with nokias batts. So, u these brands?

Posted by BobaFett
i gave once a try for third party batt, but never again. nokia batt are really good imo, wish the 1100mah will be a standard in the future, especially for symbians

Posted by bickit
true! They should also make more energy saving measures. But then again, these are smartphones....tell me, what is the direct rival to the E60?

Posted by BobaFett
No rival imo, actually from any other brand. According the connectivity its a unique one imo

really? I thought it would b m600i but looks like im on a class of my own . That probably explains the gaping looks i was being given at the coffee house; was browsing thru wifi! I got this email client called profimail and somethings i dont know, like whats an incoming mail server, outgoing mail server, and is yahoo mail an Imap4 or pop3 account provider?

Posted by BobaFett
sorry, no idea about those servers, u should ask it here:

Posted by bickit
erm....they seem 2 have the same problem with me! Is there a more specific post that can solve me problem? My inbox refuses 2 delete, move or mark my mail on all my browsers and i cant find that official e-series mail client!

Posted by BobaFett
imo u should make another for it to avoid going off topic here.

btw do u use edge or 3g with e60?

Posted by bickit
i use edge, bt my network is testing umts, so later this year, im going to make the big leap to proper 3g. At least my browsing will be faster. By the way, i have definetly heard of E60/61i, i cnt remember which one, but i'd like some1 2 confirm this please....

OK you gave me a private msg saying that I was shooting you down and you didnt like it. I responded back stating at the end that many discussions are duplicated here > like the one above where a search could've help you as Bobba volunteered. Everyone is different and has specific preferences - Boba is a current S60 user while I no longer am so he responds I'm offering positive criticism.

Now I searched and found relavance here to assist you.
If you logged into your web interface for Yahoo mail (.com/.ca/.eu/??) then goto the options link (again not the My Yahoo site but the My Mail site for Yahoo). then goto pop forwarding. You'll need to enable it first then check settings as follows.

Incoming Mail Server (POP3): pop.mail.yahoo.ca (the last part will be unique to the country you registered your yahoo mail).
Outgoing Mail Server (SMTP): smtp.mail.yahoo.ca
Account Name/Username: series60fan
Email address: put in yours the FULL.
PW: again yours.

Here is a search under my name (based on S60 2nd Edition) for my contribution for helping others.
http://www.esato.com/board/vi[....]ic=86149&start=180#post1310950

PS: pls check the first page of that thread as many of the codes are still relevant and helpful for those new using S60 or even E series devices.
Just dont be so quick to judge others about how they criticize you (theres Negative and POSTIVE). Ask them first what their meaning is > its hard to tell emotions over the net with just plain text and obscure smileys.

hope this helps.

Although I noticed nobody answered my question.

i took ur critics with dignity! Dont u thnk i conducted a search already? Thnks 4 the settings, bt my posts are not duplicated, its just to see other's thoughts!

Dont u miss the cam in e60?

This message was posted from a 6233

Posted by bickit
of course i do, but this phone has so much flexibillity i tend to forget about a camera. I didnt use it that much in my previous phones, at the time it was fashionable 2 hv a camera phone, bt i got bored when a 5mp cmr phne ws released. 2 depressing.....but i cn go swap this 4 E70 when i want, but its nt important. And u?

Posted by BobaFett
i do liked the idea to launch e50 with and without a cam, its very uesful for businessmen who works in area where cams arent allowed. i am not a cam fan, actually not the main reason to go for a fone.

Posted by bickit
true, and personally, i think the E60 would look odd with a camera, though i wouldnt mind a frontal camera. They should have made the light sensor the front camera like 6280.

Posted by BobaFett
does it have actually light sensor, so the backlight is dimmed when better light enviroments ar given? just as at 6680 for example
