does anyone know if the life of the battery is acceptable now? I had the very first SPV when I worked for Orange but that and the reception where it's biggest flaws...I know there's been other models since but I didn't have the opportunity to use them....

any idea of price? and what do you think this phone is a rival for? Is it a rival for the k700? There are plenty of phones coming out 3/4Q this year with decent screens/memory card/camera so is this SPV going to be a hit? i personally quite like it, but we'll see when it hits the shops...

You can improve the performance of your SPV C500 by downloading the new ROM update. This will give you the following benefits:

Videos can be sent via MMS
Flickering issue in games has now been fixed
Packet video full screen mode and backlight fix
Improved memory management of the camera and video applications
Improved browsing/upload speed (changed from GPRS class 8 to class 10)

Before you perform your upgrade, please ensure that :

Please note that this update is for UK devices only and cannot be used on SPV C500s sold in other countries.
You are not already running the most recent software . To check your current version of software, from the Home Screen, press Start , Settings , About and scroll down to check your operator version. If your version is Operator version: 4.1.1.4 . then you already have the latest software.
Your SPV C500's battery is fully charged .
Your PC is running Windows® 98, 2000 or XP .
You have backed-up all of your personal data (contacts, appointments, tasks) using ActiveSync (3.7.1) or Orange backup (in the Start/Orange folder on your phone). While performing the ROM Update, all of your data and settings will be erased from your SPV C500. After you've performed the update, restore your personal data and settings to your updated SPV C500. Data on your mini-SD Card (in the "\Storage Card" directory) will not be modified. However, any applications installed on the "Storage Card" will have to be reinstalled.

BBC News story for Stuff Magazine's top Christmas Gadgets.
Topping the chart is (rather unsurprisingly) the iPod, however the Orange SPV C500 is in the list too, which is well deserved. You can buy Stuff Magazine from any newsagent - just look for the magazine with the semi-naked girl surrounded by a collection of gadgets.. WOaH! Not those gadgets.. No, let's not go there...
