just wondering why SE can't make a phone with something more than 256k screen resolution...i mean even the new SE phones are still 256k like the "flagship" w902 and C905...this is bs if u ask me when uve got phones like the iphone and samsung innov8 with 16m colours? |

suppose SE does make screens with more color .. thn im sure most of us will brag about the battery life, as 16 mill drains much more battery life (example N95) thn wht do u want thm to do, make a bigger battery rite .. well thn the phone size will increase .. u c the drift
beside 256k can be brisk and sharper thn many 16 mill screens which SE has proven before

Well, if you ask me, I think 16m colours is just as gimmicky as mineral glass. There are other factors that influence a display's clarity like LCD quality etc. But yeah it would be nice to have it on top of the presently brilliant SE display just to know that we don't have a half-assed screen

please no more of this topic. it's been discussed over thrice this year.
this is the latest one:

my quote from the post:
This is my friend's two month old 6300 (it's black 6300, so it's kinda new released) - and my ex-K660 (which was stolen!):
Original pic:
Original pic:
Still think 6300 is very sharp and bright?
The difference is quite huge in term of backlight brightness, and color balance (6300 is so purplish), not to mention the colors saturation and rendering, contrast, black-white point, and of course viewing angle. SE latest proprietary phones have superb viewing angle from any side.
more thorough here:

the quote from the post:
K770 (1.9", 256k color screen, TFT) Vs 6120 Classic (2", 16M color screen, TFT) - all set to maximum brightness.
K770 is always on the LEFT side
All the colors (black, white, red, green, blue) are obviously better in K770. K770 wins easily in term of brightness as well.
But interesting fact is K770's is not even the best display from SE yet. S500 is better.
S500 (similar to W580) - K770
In case you think my review is biased, I'm not the only one who reviewed this kind of thing.
W580 - U600 (both are TFT 256k colors)
see W580 Vs U600, then see this:
U600 - N95 (TFT 256k Vs TFT 16M)
W580 - W910 (both are TFT 256k colors)
N95 - N95 8GB
and don't ever conclude anything if you compare those 16M screens with K800. coz K800 display is WAY behind newest SE:
S500 - M600 - K800
viewing angle??
don't worry.. latest SE phones do the best:
Open your eyes please.. It's obvious that SE latest displays are superb in term of brightness, saturation, contrast, viewing angle, direct sunlight view.
Now tell me what is so special about those 16M color screens?
You don't have to envy those Nokias' 16M color screens. Really.
As for me, I'd rather have a 256k color screen SE phone than a 16M color screen Nokia phone.
==========================================
End of quote.
Oh.. I can add.. even a Samsung with 16M colors, is not that good either. I have seen G600, U900 and am not really impressed much by the display. It's kinda yellowish, and the vividness of the colors are not as good as SE's latest display. Not to mention the legibility under direct sunlight (it's always known that Samsung has bad displays under sunlight). It only wins in the term of shading, not by much.

@Amras: i think youre over killing everyone who will dare to oppose you on this aspect, but as always color depth of display doesn't always foretell better image quality. SE displays are superb even at 256K colors, although SO905iCS eats them all alive, right sony alpha?

AFAIK SE has never made screens with 256K colours.
SE screens have 262,000 colours.
