I have had 3 M600i (1st was a proto, second was replaced by P990i, P990i made way for N95...but missed the qwerty and touch screen so got the 3rd...that has now left...ready for the P1i)

Lovely phone, lacks some features but we knew that when we bought it... but the form factor is good.... but basically... I never ever had a serious issue with the M600i...

My M600 was more stable than what P990 can as far as my experience tells me. though imho it wont be too much if SE will provide M600 users too with a new firmware update

For me my 600 is the best phone i had (just above p900) ... My best friend has a p990 and only when i see its size i laugh! And for what ? Because it has a camera and wifi? I still dont understand what is the use of the flip, when we can use ,uch better the phone as it is on m600...

My biggert complaint is for the back button which is on the top right - i would defenitely prefer it on the bottom left... I usually use my thumb to "surf" in the phone, and when i want to go back in an application it becomes a real hassle...

However , a phone or any other piece of technology that has a firmware should not be abondoned so quickly, should only be developed and updated. especially when a phone like p990 which runs on the same more or less platform will be updated.

My phone is still in its warranty period, and SE will stop giving me any updates? Can i take it back to the store i bought it to replace it then?

I have a bug in my phone. When under the setting menu in contacts I use the Sort by option to Sort the contacts according to 1st or last name, the contacts manager crashes saying Error 6 has occured?

I think that M600 is one of the best phones I had, as far as my needs are concerned. I had the experience of several phones including the P800, P900 and P910. I use it as a business phone and it is great but I have only two but severe problems: the sound during phone calls is too low (in a noisy environment like an airport it is almost impossible for me to hear; this problem is related to last firmware); almost every day I have to reboot for SIM card error (is not the SIM, is a problem known by SE Italy).
I would like to stay with this phone, but they should solve these issues.
Coming from a business environment developing hw and sw I understand that they want to invest resources on new products; it is a normal standard of business companies,
It is true that MS have alphas and betas. I believe that SE also can create a community of beta testers at least of their flagship or business phones. This would help them to develop better phones and also getting suggestions on how to ameliorate functionalities and GUI.
Will I buy more phones from SE? Probably yes.

i know it seems like letting SE off too early, but i really don't feel like there's anything significant to fix in the M600 - sure, there are imperfections, but no more so that virtually any phone. The P910 wasn't perfect, but it was bloody good, and perfectly stable, and that's what the M600 is now in my experience.

For a long time now it's been obvious that the M600's issues have never been on the same scale as the P990 - perhaps because it's been in the wild longer, or perhaps just because it does less - ie, no camera or wifi. Either way, the M600 just does the job reliably now and has done since forever now. My phone was reasonably reliable on its original early vodafone software, and it's been solid as the proverbial rock since i debranded and made it current - no crashes, no restarts, not so much as a hiccup, and uptime that runs into weeks.

Well, i think definitely M600 is more stable than p990 right?
I still dont understand why p900 is the flagship phone. Is it just for the camera and wifi?

Anyway, yes indeed M600 has been extremely reliable with the last updates, but for sure it can be even better, quicker, even more reliable, with better sound quality during calls, with better sound quality when playing music etc etc

As far as I understand they know it is a problem, but they do not have a solution and therefore I believe we will never have a solution.
It is not possible to reproduce it and therefore it is almost impossible to bring the telephone for a replacement.
I should admit that being not repetitive it is difficult for the developers in SE to solve it.
I know it is an issue for the Swiss/Italian firmware; I do not know if it is a problem for the generic World firmware

Although it's a paid solution with no reimbursement if it doesn't work, you could try to reflash with different firmware through DaVinci Team. It the phone is too unstable as it is then your only other choice, besides just putting up with it, is to bin it and buy something else.

Now my new SIM card has been running for three days without any error. Perhaps I did have a SIM card error. I do hope so cause it is really a great phone.

until last night when the battery ran out while i was on messenger, my m600i had an uptime of about 6 weeks

though the reason it wasnt the 28 it could have been was that it completely froze when a friend was playing the golf game - but hey, i have windows vista, and thats hung up 8 times in the last 2 days, so i'm used to crap software

I've honestly not had a crash or a restart since the firmware before last, and my phone's on virtually all the time. Admittedly, the first time I applied that update it was very unreliable, as something seemed to go wrong with the flash, but I took advice here and reformatted, re-updated it, and it's been rock solid since then. The later, apparently final update made it a little faster (thanks to no transitions) but the reliability was already top notch.

To be fair, even on the very early heavily branded Vodafone firmware it was on originally, it was reasonably reliable, with only the occasional restart - not so much worse than the P910 it replaced.

As it is now, I'd have to say it's at least as good as the P910 on stability, and better than the P800 - I don't think you can say fairer than that.

today had my friend's p990 beside my m600 , and tried some function at the same time on both phones...

Guys, my M600 looked like it was an F1 can and the P990 was like an old antique !
