C'mon guys. All of you who are criticizing this new model, remember it's the begin of Xperia series, it's X1.
So we must accept it as the very first one and wait for the X2, X3 and so on.
Like the iphone fans are doing. They know iphone sucks, but they're waiting for the next one.

I hope i don't sound stupid but from what i saw some of the panels (such as the media panel) look familiar. in that case is it possible that WM is just another app inside a
os just like the media app (i would love that, like having the best of both worlds, hence the best XPERIAnce)?
would it then be possible that inside wm the colors are limited to 65k and outside 262K like stated on the norvegian site?
in that case the 400mb ram would have to be shared between the 2 OS and it will be the beginning of Mobile virtual machines.

I hate the fact that people say it will beat the iphone, the n95, etc... without realising those phones have already been out for a while, it just creates false expectations and impressions.
i think it is a great phone but i am not sure how well it will be positioned in the market by the time it becomes a real part of it. (i.e. HTC has an at&t phone here in the states, the att tilt, with almost the same specs, 3.2 mp camera, wm6, full qwerty, wifi, gps, etc.. and similar design)
it is like saying that i know for sure that a camera phone released by

couldn't agree more ... can't wait to get x1 in my hands. except that it won't be for months. and except for the great resolution on the display, the specs aren't any better than what's available in stores right now, even in the behind-the-times US. so a lot of it comes down to the actual user experience (hence the Xperia name, right)?
HTC Touch was hyped as a killer UI, and I for one was disappointed by it. so you never know until you try it out. iPhone sucks on paper, spec-wise, but the UI is amazing. it really is. X1 with a comparable user experience plus all of the apps available for WinMob, plus a 3.2 camera, that giant display, and a real qwerty keyboard would be amazing. But X1 with an underwhelming user interface - esp. if it turns out to be some panels thrown on top of WinMob (like HTC TouchFlo) - would be a disappointment.
Will have to wait and see ...

OMFG! This is _so_ exciting, even though it's probably ~6 months to release.
UIQ, SE and Motorola is apparently having a press conferance this Wednesday, going to be interesting to see how their strategies are regarding "business"-phones, and the next P-model.

On the X1 accessories page it lists the "GPS enabler" - so it looks like the X1 doesn't have built in GPS...
it just has the aGPS software.

Yep. 18 pages in a couple of hours. Amazing. Even moreso, before the announcements, the portfolio 2008 page did 30 pages in half an hour! I checked between visits! Its all because these phones are awesome though. And people dont all realize how close G900 is to the X1 spec-wise. If the camera is more important to you than the OS, it may even be better, depending on how you weigh up the specs. However you look at it, you can find no fault with SE this time. The HAVE brought their fans a different OS. They HAVE raised the bar and brought new and better phones to the top of their list. They HAVE made me very happy I never got a silly N82 or 95, or even 96! Great great great SE!

Well u just cant please everyone. Someone will always have something to complain about. But unless you want REALLY good pics, as in twice the size of your monitor better than you need for almost everything, you wont need the 5MPX cam with all the trimmings. 3.2MPX with AF and 30FPS for video, fast, easy, simple and effective. All you need. Its about experience, not specs necessarily. Isnt the number of Iphone sales testament to the fact that Joe Public on the whole would agree with this?

look in the list. w760 is there too. they cant be bothered to pick out the phones that do have gps(2) so they just put all the phones capable.

It's compatible with the receiver, nothing else...The X1 still has internal GPS.

Clearly not the final build. It has to have a front qvga for video calls, this is an expensive phone. I don't know how much that would cost, but I'm sure it's not much.
